The all-new Jeep® Commander (H1) has made it’s public in Brazil on Thursday and has already proven to be a commercial success for the American adventure brand in the Brazilian marketplace. In just 6 hours, Jeep Brazil took more than 2,800 orders for the new three-row D-segment SUV. The new Commander H1 will be the biggest and most sophisticated SUV the brand has ever produced in Brazil, bringing a lot of comforts, sophistication, space, and off-road capability to the Brazilian lineup.

Ex-FCA is rocking in Brazil. What they are doing right now in Brazil is sort of a miracle.

Captive market with few options

Even some cars like Fiat Argo are now at the top of sales chart. AFAIK 10k per month.

At the start of sales, few years ago, Argo was slow seller or was selling bellow expectations.

Right now ex-FCA can sell anything and that surprised me.

On the other hand ex-PSA is struggling in Brazil with their euro-based line up with cost cut solutions like lower safety standards. They sell identical models in Europe and Brazil. Ex-FCA doesn't have such policy with a lot of unique models for South American market. Hopefully STLA will not change this policy.

I love the front design of this Commander, I could see some variation of this for the KM Cherokee. Since the Cherokee is up for a redesign, you'd think we'd be seeing some prototypes of the new variant after they revealed this new Commander.

It is because of incoming Tariffs.

Hmh. They have tariffs but at the same time it's not a captive market anymore. Broad choice of cars and brands.

What is limiting factor for bigger and expensive cars in Brazil is something else. Hefty sales tax on every car sold in Brazil no matter where it's produced.

Cherokee? AFAIK Cherokee should be on STLA Large.

Anyway proportions are dependent on platform choice but some design cues may be used on a Cherokee.

It was also true for the Chinese Grand Commander, yet we didn't get it.
Yep, because it only works if they Import, the cost of the implementation and certification isn't covered by volume times expected margin. Well at least that must be the data they have. Better just to produce another Jeep at to top of the capacity bottle neck.

Not that it wouldn't make a nice Chrysler as would of the RA, CUSW, and now the SUSW+. Just that there seems to be no confidence to execute it.

It was the first Jeep with the New Design language. Due for a mid-Life update isn't it?

Referring to the KL Cherokee, but if they used the STLA platform wouldn't it be the medium version?

Why you think so? STLA Medium is EMP2 fork while STLA Large is Girogio fork. I can say that for a given size FWD based Peugeot platform will offer no more interior space in comparison to Giorgio.
On the other hand Giorgio/RWD could provide more capability and let's not forget that North American supply chain will be set up and all about STLA Large and STLA Frame.

Agreed why would they shift for EMP2 Architecture not suited at all for Off-Road. I should small STLA or SUSW+ (which makes little sense given the Compass is very close.
