Dodge Charger Daytona Prepares for 2026 Solid-State Upgrade

The Dodge Charger Daytona (LB) has generated its fair share of controversy since its all-electric debut, and the 2025 model year is shaping up to add another chapter to that story. A couple of our sources close to Stellantis suppliers have confirmed that production of the 2025 Charger Daytona will be paused at the Windsor Assembly Plant in Ontario between March and May 2025. I have zero interest in an all electric vehicle, but Dodge has no choice but to solder on with the Daytona because it does have a unique niche in this market segment.
I also grudgingly admit that at some point all electrics will have overcome many, if not most, of its shortcomings and have a wider audience, so this battery improvement is a step in that direction. I also admit the Daytona just might eventually find a following and score some sales beyond the 130 now being reported. As a Dodge fan, I’m rooting for them and the Daytona.
I have also been intrigued by the upcoming Cherokee with a pure hybrid. What! I can actually see me tooling around town in a battery powered Jeep. Of course I always have my Hemi Challenger R/T to contribute to that glorious global change process that perhaps in 1000 years will change the definition of “snow bird” from four months in Florida in the winter to a month in northern Canada sitting by the pool in February. Until then, I’m a global change skeptic and an electric car doubter. Eight weeks in southern Florida does wonders for New Yorkers like me I can attest. No doubt here.
The next generation Cherokee just might move my needle to a green mindset, but winters in Florida is my first choice for now. No doubt!
 
No one is going to buy this. My guess is that they will fold the Charger / Challenger EV program by calendar 2027.

I agree. Once the I6 Hurricane hits the market I think they will out sell the EV’s 10 to 1. By 2027 like you called, IF the (modified) Hemi does return to the Chargers, that may make the number 20 to 1. Time will tell.
 
Just wait until the poison pump 6 cylinder comes out! All the White Trash in wife-beaters can continue to destroy Earth 1. Mopar needs to die a quick death. Nostalgia is brain rot.

According to the CEO they need the EV to stay compliant if they add the V8. Id take the solid state with 400 miles of range and faster charging.
