The Dodge Charger Daytona (LB) has generated its fair share of controversy since its all-electric debut, and the 2025 model year is shaping up to add another chapter to that story. A couple of our sources close to Stellantis suppliers have confirmed that production of the 2025 Charger Daytona will be paused at the Windsor Assembly Plant in Ontario between March and May 2025. The reason? Stellantis is preparing for a major upgrade — the introduction of Factorial’s solid-state battery technology.

I have zero interest in an all electric vehicle, but Dodge has no choice but to solder on with the Daytona because it does have a unique niche in this market segment.
I also grudgingly admit that at some point all electrics will have overcome many, if not most, of its shortcomings and have a wider audience, so this battery improvement is a step in that direction. I also admit the Daytona just might eventually find a following and score some sales beyond the 130 now being reported. As a Dodge fan, I’m rooting for them and the Daytona.
I have also been intrigued by the upcoming Cherokee with a pure hybrid. What! I can actually see me tooling around town in a battery powered Jeep. Of course I always have my Hemi Challenger R/T to contribute to that glorious global change process that perhaps in 1000 years will change the definition of “snow bird” from four months in Florida in the winter to a month in northern Canada sitting by the pool in February. Until then, I’m a global change skeptic and an electric car doubter. Eight weeks in southern Florida does wonders for New Yorkers like me I can attest. No doubt here.
The next generation Cherokee just might move my needle to a green mindset, but winters in Florida is my first choice for now. No doubt!
 
No one is going to buy this. My guess is that they will fold the Charger / Challenger EV program by calendar 2027.

I agree. Once the I6 Hurricane hits the market I think they will out sell the EV’s 10 to 1. By 2027 like you called, IF the (modified) Hemi does return to the Chargers, that may make the number 20 to 1. Time will tell.
 
Just wait until the poison pump 6 cylinder comes out! All the White Trash in wife-beaters can continue to destroy Earth 1. Mopar needs to die a quick death. Nostalgia is brain rot.

According to the CEO they need the EV to stay compliant if they add the V8. Id take the solid state with 400 miles of range and faster charging.
 
While I'm genuinely more interested in the ICE variants to come, I think this car will have it's market. It may not be as big as the regular Charger market but then again it may be. EVs are honestly just as common place now days as regular ICE vehicles so I wouldn't necessarily count the Daytona as a completely loss. It's not for all of us, but it was never meant to be and Stellantis knows this. While the new technology will be great because of the weight reduction and increase range, what does that do for the price? The car is already $20K more than it should be (in scat pack trim) so where does that put the '26 as far as pricing?
My thing is that I'm hoping that they come out with a Charger GT-GLH package with a Hurricane-4 Hybrid similar to what's in the 4Xe jeeps but with the Hurricane EVO engine, which is rumored to be tuned to around 300hp and the new 880RE Gen-4 with a hybrid setup with AWD. Figuring it should boost the horsepower numbers up to about 390hp and torque may even remain the same 470lb-ft but with a more aggressive powerband. It would give the base car an edge over the Mustang Ecoboost and still be "green"

Maybe go take a bath in a lithium brine pit and let us know how environmentally friendly those are.
 
Production paused because they’re not selling. Hurry up every chance you get with that SXT I6.

I agree that they will continue to produce the EV Charger. I just think it will be largely outsold by the ICE version(s).

Could be part of it because the 2024's didn't come out until basically Jan 2025. That said, getting the solid state's out should help with the criticisms and reviews. A lighter, faster charging Daytona would be awesome - many might take one over the Sixpack if the deals were better.
 
Solid state is a game changer.... It is good they are moving to me ahead instead of dragging the rear and leaving market share to the Startups.

Fusion is the next step.

Biggest thing to overcome is where these models are needed most have the least consumer charging capability. High density areas.
 
Dealer are being New York governor not to enforce the 35% EV sales requirement. She seems unmoved.

Greetings and salutations to whatever part of Earth 1 you are from. I see from your responses that you aren't really a fan of the Mopar brands of vehicles or internal combustion. I'm sure that you are aware by now that even fully battery electric vehicles still rely on petrol power to charge them, whether it be at the charging station where the generators are diesel powered or at home where the electricity comes from diesel powered generators for the most part, unless your home is completely solar powered. I can't understand why you're on a Mopar page in the first place if you feel that the brand needs to die a quick death and you have no respect for the history of the brand or how it has shaped this country. But you're description of what makes up the brand also helps me to understand where you are coming from because you know nothing about the people who support this brand. The Mopar family extends far beyond the narrow selection of people you have described. This family of people is a truly diverse family from all walks of life and we are not at all interested in being a part of the status quo. We are a group of passionate, expressive individuals than span generations and we enjoy our blends of nostalgia along with the new because of our love for the brand, it's history and pride in our country and the ability to have choice. And if you choose not to like the brand and it's family. Then you have the choice of not being a part of it. Have and amazing day
