The Mazda CX-50 uses Toyota's hybrid system, which is a high voltage design. Mazda is discontinuing the MX-30 model, both the battery electric and the rotary engine range extended model. The US only got the battery electric version and then only on the CARB states. Europe had both versions...
Ha ha🤡! We have another thread wondering about the feasibility of something like the 200C EV concept for Chrysler while Alfa Romeo is making plans to build these models on the same STLA-large platform. I have nothing against these models or the brand, I have driven the lower line trims of...
That generation of range extended EV technology did find its way into the BMW i3. How about those batteries from A123. This Chrysler sedan could be built using the same platform as the Charger, but with the concepts shorter wheelbase and length. Battery and electrification technology...
GM uses a turbo four. Ford has the 2.7 EB. I don't know what happened to the naturally aspirated V6 in the Fords. I think it might be strictly for fleet order pickup trucks. It still is available in their vans.
The new Compass will arrive in our market just in time to face the next generation RAV4 with hybrid, plugin hybrid, and BEV powertrain offerings. The plugin hybrid will feature 100km of battery range. Nissan will be offering a PHEV option for the Rogue by that time as well.
I hope the new...
I wonder what the Halcyon Concept will lead to. A lot has happened in the electrification of automobiles since the Chrysler 200C EV concept toured the auto show circuit. The 4th gen ZF plugin hybrid transmission offers specifications and performance which totally trounces the REEV system found...
The Recon and Wagoneer S are intended for global sales. Jeep had better worry more about the German economy tanking because of high energy costs and also taking the rest of the EU with it. Part of the reason some models are built in Mexico is because many countries have tariffs against the USA...
From what I've read, the facility was supposed to produce engines for Daimler-Chrysler, Hyundai, and Mitsubishi. The old Chryco was then kicked to the curb, so much of the facility sat unused.
I highly doubt the Punch mild hybrid transmission will show up in any STLA-large vehicles. We really don't know anything about this upcoming 3-speed hybrid transmission. Is it a vendor design or was it done in-house? Will the Cherokee and possible ICE Recon have longitudinal or transverse engine...
There is frustration when pondering these new STLA-large Jeep products. We don't have enough details on the next hybrid transmission. The last thing I would want for going up North in the winter with a snowmobile or four wheeler in tow is a pure BEV. Looking at that straight edge styling and 4WD...
See the picture of the two tone Charger in post #7? That customer base wants the Pentastar V6, and the same goes for other fleets. No matter how good the Hurricane six is, the twin turbo Eco-Boost V6 offered in the Ford Explorer police vehicles was a FAIL . As a result fleet buyers are very...
I can't help but notice e-motor #1 has 70 kw for power. The Aisin hybrid system Stellantis dropped has 83 kW. Magna's high voltage, dedicated hybrid system has a standard traction motor of 90 kW for smaller vehicles and up to 200 kW for other segments and configurations.
Thee FCA legacy hybrid transmission for the front drive EU products is the Magna 7-speed dual clutch. The 4Xe models use something different, I can't remember the supplier. The PSA PHEV vehicles used an Aisin single motor hybrid transmission that is as close to being a range extender generator...
Badge engineered Opel products flopped badly when GM tried it here not that long ago. The only way forward for the legacy Chrysler Corp brands is to take a STLA platform; then design, style, and build it in North America. The engines and transmissions should be built here as well. The...
I'm sure the torque converter will remain for use in niche products, but ZF and Aisin are competing with each other to remove it from the mainstream consumer market.
The CDJR brands can doom themselves by either cheapening out with the Punch hybrid or by thinking the reason the Dodge Hornet...
The senior apartment complex where I live has a reserved parking spot for the Grim Reaper.🫥 Automakers generally aren't thinking of my demographic when designing new products.
I drive a Toyota crossover equipped with a hybrid drive-train and an e-axle. I bought the Toyota because Jeep failed to...
