Because Dodge needs a car that will sell. 2.0 and 3.0 Euro junk engines don't sell.
And because the original Cobra roadster didn't become legendary due to it's economy and thrifty nature. It became legendary because it was a small car with a big motor. This is America.
The review I watched on the Wagoneer S last night was....not good. And the reviewer had many legitimate points to make.
Jeep and Dodge have wasted gobs of cash. Let's see if they have the ability to turn the ship over the next year or two.
There you go again, stuck on paper numbers.
Nobody who is an enthusiast/shade tree mechanic gives a damn that the Hurricane makes slightly more peak HP and slightly more peak torque than the Hemi. Nobody. What we DO care about is smoothness, linear throttle, reliability, sound quality which...
I don't need to explain how the 3.0 EcoDiesel, 2.0T, or 3.0TT Hurricane engines are European garbage, because the track records on those engines speak for themselves.
Now we're seeing 3.0TT engines dropping like flies in Ram trucks and there are lots of videos online about it.
Nothing, and I...
Stellantis made two mistakes: they deleted the powertrains that were the cash cows, and they let product remain stale. JL Wrangler needed a big update, not just a new grille. DT Ram is now 7 years old with no meaningful changes. Ram HD trucks are so old that I still had a full head of hair...
I was born 5 days before the show debut. When my parents got home with me from the hospital my Dad flipped on the premier episode. As I got old enough to remember things, this show was one of my first memories and the General Lee car was the first toy I remember playing with.
And now, these Charger EVs aren't even unloaded from the trucks and they are doing $14k or more off sticker to try and move them.
When Hellcats came out, MSRP mark-ups. Gladiator, MSRP mark-ups. Ram TRX, MSRP mark-ups. NEW models of hot vehicles demand attention and get initial price hikes...
No cheerleading is needed. The car is doing enough failing on its own. Look at Stellantis scrambling now. Cancelling or heavily delaying the REV, accelerating the Six Pack Charger, talking about a V8 possible future again, etc. It's funny. If they had just listened to CUSTOMERS to begin...
We all knew these EV "Chargers" wouldn't sell. But apparently it's worse than expected. There are credible sources online saying that Dodge has taken 82 orders for this car. Eighty two. They were selling almost 80,000 Chargers a year, and they just released an all-new model and they got 82...
Coyotes pop heads? I owned one until last month. I spend time at car events and races every year with friends who have them. I have seen countless Coyote engines hold 1,000 HP on totally stock engines. These guys are taking Mustang GT cars that they paid $30k for and they slap a mail order...
So you can't even do a burnout in the current car? I thought all along they promised that AWD would have a button to shut it off when the driver wanted?? They absolutely gutted the soul out of this car. It's nothing but an appliance that happens to look good.
Awesome, OTA updates now which means they can monitor anytime the engine is modified. Who wants control of their own property these days anyhow?
Lots of changes to the engine EXCEPT the roller rocker valvetrain which has been problematic. Genius.
A "revised" version of the problematic CP4...
That's exactly what I'm saying. It's extremely easy to tell the reviewers who are being honest versus the ones who are kissing @** so they'll get invited to more press events.
Side note: Almost all the reviewers have said the exact same thing I've said; this new car looks amazing inside and...
I heard that the Stellantis top leadership was so unhappy about the reviews from press week with the new Charger they've decided to delay it AGAIN and manually software update every single car before sending them to dealers. I don't think I've seen a glowing review of the new car yet. At least...
So the lease "deal" shown on the website as of today is for the Daytona R/T for $611/month with $5,200 down on a 36 month term. That INCLUDES the $7,500 tax credit factored in. OUCH.
So with the MSRP on the example car being $66,500 that means the effective residual value on the car at the...
I wish the Six Pack version was going to get the 6-speed manual. That's a shame. Ford proved that people still want them. When the new S650 platform Mustang debuted a year or so ago almost 30% of orders were manuals.
And right on cue... in the continued push away from EV, Ram announces today that the Ram REV is being pushed to 2026 and the Ramcharger is being moved forward to early 2025. Tim Kuniskis is already making positive changes.
Now....if we can just squeeze the 6.4 Hemi into the Laramie models...
Frankly, the reason they moved so many JL Wranglers from 2018 to 2020 is because we had an excellent administration and an excellent economy with almost non-existant interest rates and FCA was able to leverage that into amazing leasing deals. I remember seeing entry level base JL Wranglers...
I thought it was the most brutally honest review of the car on YouTube, and I applaud them for being bold enough to say on video what everybody else is thinking but doesn't have the guts to say at a press event.
