For 2026, the Jeep® Grand Cherokee lineup (WL) has been given a fresh dose of refinement and innovation. Launched in 2021, the fifth-generation model has proven to be one of the brand’s most versatile and capable SUVs to date. Now, halfway through its life cycle, Jeep has pulled the covers off an updated Grand Cherokee that adds a new powertrain option, new interior tech, and design updates to help it stay ahead of the competition in the midsize SUV segment.

I was excited when I saw the Trailhawk with red recovery hooks and thought they brought back the ICE Trailhawk, but apparently not.

I didn't see anything about the batteries in the PHEV being updated, are they the same batteries as before? A PHEV Trailhawk would be my preferred replacement for my KL, (or even a hybrid one) but I'm not sure after seeing past problems with them, and the warranty goofiness that is happening.

Also, sad to see the climate buttons are gone, replaced with the goofy haptic touch panel.
 
I am expecting the new Battery and ZF the Wrangler received. Samsung fixed the separator issue about what a year ago, but looking forward to higher capacity battery.

Cars are going be like computers... there will always be a newer better battery if you wait... just got to pull the trigger.

I have to say mine has had little integration issues since the Samsung fix. First the washer pump wouldn't pump. Then the 73C now the washer pump work but he memory seat does not. Bring the old integration programmers back.
 
It's almost a guarantee this will be in the new Charger GT. With 324hp and 332lb-ft of torque, that's not too far off of what the 5.7L Hemi put down when it first came out. 335hp/370tq in the Durango and 340hp/390 in the original 2005 Charger R/T. The output exceeds the horsepower of the Ecoboost mustang, but falls short of the torque and with the added weight the Mustang will still be quicker but it will be more competitive than the 3.6L Pentastar. It may also be something that will be receptive to tuning and upgrades just like the Ecoboost mustang, which would make this thing really cool.
 
Really interested, the new engine sounds amazing, so far. I have ten months in my SUV replacement game plan for something new so I’ve got time for the reviews, reliability data and all important test drives before deciding. I sure hope Jeep keeps some chrome accents and bright wheels in the mix as I’m not a fan of dark satin gray or black in these, for me, critical areas. The first photos show some good wheels and what looks like chrome grill and facia accents, but on what models? If I can get exactly what I want in and out the Summit would be my choice. Ready to shop in person as soon as I can.
 
2L is, once again, going to flop just as badly as it did in KL and JL.

Pentastar only available in Laredo & Laredo X trims = sales disaster.

I don't think do true chrome anymore. I would imagine the Summit would have the closest to the chrome accents you want?

Yeah, this will be interesting to watch.
 
I'm sure eventually we will get some kind of hybrid version of this with the ZF 8HP EVO transmission which will put whatever vehicle has this on the level of an American AMG C63S. But I can also see Dodge doing something unique with this engine. Stellantis needs some volume selling cars in the American market. Typically when we think of cars like that we think of vehicles like the Kia K5, the Toyota Camry, the Honda Accord and their corresponding SUVs and crossovers. Most of them have a top horsepower of around 290hp or so and no where near that level of torque. What if Dodge had something to say about that with their STLA Medium platform? Spec'd out, the STLA Medium platform is on par size wise with vehicles like the Camry, Accord and Altima along with SUVs like the new Santa Fe, Telluride, Passport and GMC Acadia. Take this platform and have an entry level GT 1.6L Hybrid powertrain making 210hp/230lb-ft of torque and then have the R/T trim level with the 2.0L turbo powertrain that makes 270hp/295lb-ft of torque. Right there that puts out more horsepower than nearly everything in that class except for the Kia K5 GT. Now add in the Huricane-4 with 324hp/332lb-ft of torque with an upgraded 9-speed gearbox and a rear biased AWD system and now we have a few affordable GLH vehicles that the masses can enjoy with some direct connection upgrades that may make them fun and exciting and hearken back to the SRT4 days of the Caliber and Neon. I'm going to be alone on this next part but I'm all for seeing Stellantis a genuine mistake and bring back the Dart on this platform with a SRT4 version powered by a Direct Connection package. A Camry-sized sedan with 360hp/390lb-ft of torque from a different tune, intake piping and a tuned exhaust system with a 9-speed automatic gearbox, a rear biased AWD system, Brembos, performance suspension, styling and all of that kind of stuff for about $36K would be a great volume selling performance car. They could do the same thing with the Hornet and fix that mistake as well with this new setup. It's not a hard fix and even at that level they're not stepping on the toes of the Charger or the Durango at all. Muscle for the masses!!!!
