You heard it here first. They will probably continue to build existing Ram 1500 (DT) platform alongside next generation Ram 1500, depending on what happens in 2028 election. All comes down to emissions regulations. They are designing it to have the flexibility of including a REEV option, again, hedging their bets depending on what happens in 2028.

Thank God Trump rolled back emissions regulations - thank you President Trump!

It's going to be awhile. 3 or 4 years from now.

What the Hemi engine planners need to do is correct the oiling issue to the cam and lifters as well as the exhaust manifold bolts breaking. You just can't keep selling engines with know serious issues as the class action lawsuits keep piling up ! Then there is the Pentastar V6 top end rockers failures which are also well known !

They can’t? They’ve been selling them for two decades🤷🏻‍♂️ And majority aren’t fatal

But I digress. Long live Hemi!

If the buyers want a V8 give it to them, and improvement is always welcome.
GM is investing in the next generation V8 so why shouldn’t CDJR?
Even the Germans are back tracking their decision to kill their V8’s, even though they have more “efficient and powerful” 6 and 4 cylinders.

But keeping an offering for EV or REEV is a smart choice, to be prepared for any regulatory change and to keep on also improving them.

If there’s no production constraints, there is always someone who would want either of those offerings

I haven't heard anything about a new platform over the current STLA Frame plans in the works.

Next Ram 1500 is not a new platform, it uses STLA Frame. Bifurcation between old Ram 1500 (DT) serving as lower level trims with “new” Ram 1500 being higher level trims.

The body in white / sheet metal will differ between the two.

Where did you hear that?

Why would they do that?

There's an old adage in business: "You have to spend money to make money." Stellantis leadership never got the memo.
Oh they spent money since the "merger" but it was all on the wrong stuff. FCA decided to clean up debt instead of investing in new product so they could be an attractive "merger" partner. And here we are.
