RETURN FROM EXTINCTION: A HEMI® TRX Will Return In 2026!

The HEMI-Powered Beast Returns, and It Could Be More Powerful Than Ever

Over the weekend, the internet was buzzing with rumors about the sweeping changes Stellantis is reportedly planning to course-correct after the tenure of former CEO Carlos Tavares. One of the most talked-about topics was the potential return of a HEMI®-powered Ram TRX.

That video has me nervous with excitement. Sounds like maybe SRT is coming back? I don't see how Dodge doesn't also end up with a Hemi again - Charger included.

I’d hope so Dodge would use the 6.4 and Hellcat Redeye on the new Charger. But considering they want to get rid of the stock pile of Redeye engines, I don’t see them offering it in other than the TRX, and I hope they round it up to 800hp for bragging rights.

Say what you want but John Elkann isn’t messing around about fixing Stellantis N.A.!!
Keep it going John!!!

Hopefully Stellantis can find a way to balance their lineup and make room for all of the powertrains they have now. It's cool the Hellcat is coming back to fight the F150 Raptor-R and that the option for V8 power remains. Maybe we will see Ram & Dodge Return to using V8 engines and see Jeep & Chrysler make use of the Hurricane family for the most part. If Dodge does decide to put a V8 in the Charger, I hope the AWD remains and also that the V8s are exactly the same as they were before. Tbh, a 5.7L Hemi V8 upgraded with a 6.1L forged crankshaft, a 6.4L crank, heads, intake manifold, throttle body, CAI & headers wouldn't be the worst thing in the world under the hood of the new Charger. The old Mopar "Scat Pack Stage-3 kits were essentially this (minus the intake) and gave around 455hp with a decent amount of torque. Lets say conservatively have a mild "Direct Connection" type ECU programing with this along with the manifold and say we get 470hp from this setup. That puts the 5.7L Hemi above the 3.0L Standard output Hurricane (420hp) and the 3.0L High Output Hurricane's 550hp. Add in Forged pistons and rods, change the valvetrain over to the redeye valvetrain and throw a redeye supercharger on it and now you have an SRT variant that can stare down the 670hp numbers that the Daytona scat pack makes. I feel like that would make alot more people happy.

Not everyone is over joyed with this announcement. There is one guy in Alaska who was upset and concerned about the seal population being frightened by the TRX intimidating noise. For the rest of us, hip hip hooray! Time to wake up the neighbors.
I think the RHO is a good, more affordable option for many, but for those who are not tree huggers, the TRX is now alive and well.
Now get those promised Hemi Challengers back and things will be way, way better.

Lol about the seal population. I think, the greatest aspect of the return of the Hemi is not only to show the influence that we as a community of enthusiasts and buyers have, but also still having the freedom of choice. While I hope the V8's do make their return to Dodge and the Charger, both 2 & 4 door, I seriously hope the six pack cars remain in between the V8s and even the EVs.

6 will be performance upgrade from the v8 unless are force feed air, with the New ZF the Hybrid and 2.0 model will be a significant upgrade from the V8. Nostalgia and marketing will have to be how it survives and sales other than the Demon engines. And I am sure you are all aware of the issue with heads dislodging. But that is Ok that Flat Plane and Coyote are having similar issue also, it is systemic geometric issue with the configuration.

Charge a lot, have the Halo.... sell lots of Sixes.

You are the only guy keep beating on HEMI heads popping and dislodging.

Whether you like it or not, the market and sales numbers proved the negative affect of the lack of a V8.

that is false the reputation other than this cheerleading site, with my pompom in hand is widespread. Demon engines and Heliphants are widely known for this. And yes the Coyote has recall and Vette numbers are not big enough to concern about it but LS recall in the truck is massive. It is simply a fact it is geometry issue. Not to mention tick tick tick tick.... Eagle is on several lists of least reliable and most expensive to fix. And I too am a Cheerleader.

As for the lack of V8s being the sales issue... think you have found a false correlation there... When was a Charger LX last produced and when did the ICE Charger resume production? Tough to sell something that doesn't exist. And V8 Rams just now are clearing Inventory and Sales are also up. I point to lack of any product beyond the RAM in the top 10 selling vehicles segments and high prices paired with high interest rates correlates better.

Simply pointing out that there is not that much room to improve that engine without running into liability issues.

I get the Nostagia.... I have Nostagia .... Loved my Mopar V8s. Just trying to figure out its place within the structure now that the 6 beats eagle by 2 seconds 0-60. When that get in the lighter Charger it will be more pronounced, let alone the other performance measures related to weight like balance and braking.

Good God you are dense. They made all their profit from 2010-2020 from V6s (Grand Cherokee, Durango, Wrangler) and V8s (high trim Charger, Challenger, Durango, Grand Cherokee SRT back when they made one)

Systemic geometric issue. Is this to imply that all v8s have suffered from durability and reliability issues because of their geometry? In my 40 years of driving and owning them , I have not found that to be the case at all.

More BS, spread by….well ignorance. No, they aren’t popping heads, no it’s not a “systemic geometric issue” (did you really think weaving those words together made you look smarter? Really??) No the Hemi isn’t unreliable, no the tick doesn’t decrease service life, no they aren’t expensive to repair.

All lies, lies, lies.

As for TRX return, well there’s another lawsuit coming. Piss on them, long live the V8!

I wanna see 800hp in the TRX. Come on Tim…
