Dodge has recently launched a new marketing campaign called “Swarming the Nation” to promote its latest electric performance vehicle, the Dodge Hornet (GG). The campaign includes a 90-second video posted on Dodge’s social media channels, a 30-second TV commercial, and 15-second teasers. The brand aims to disrupt the mainstream compact-utility vehicle (CUV) segment by introducing a new breed of electrified performance.

Can't wait to test drive to see what they did to make the SUSW feel like a Dodge or Alfa.
 
If you listen verrry closely, you can hear the feet stomping of the American Alfa Romeo team over this ad campaign, knowing nothing they'll do will surpass it's attention grasp unless they literally hire a A list celebrity.

No you can't because there are only 137 of them and mostly attached to Maserti dealerships. Drown out by the 2K plus CDJRs.

Reality is the Tonale doesn't justify US certification without the Hornet, it too low on margin scale. It need the Hornet to justify it across more sales. It will drive some traffic, and maybe sale a few Stelvios.
 
I think if I had the Alfa I would get hammered on insurance just due to the name. I don't know what the price difference is between the Alfa and Dodge hybrid versions, but the Dodge dealers near me are absolutely terrible. The Fiat-Alfa dealer on the other hand has a great reputation.

My local CDJR service treats you incredibly well, but Alfa dealer is on a entirely different level as it attached to a group that does Alfa, Porsche, Maserati, and Audi. They are just focus on higher income clientele and have behave accordingly.. But they are 45 min to hr away depending on traffic. If I had the choice between the 2 and I was say 20min and could get the vehicles around the same price.... it would be a No Brainer to get the Alfa.
 
The Hornet no one is surprised would cause some debate about Tonale comparisons, as Triple T noted and I agree, that is really not that significant. The Hornet buyer demographic is not the Tonale demographic, and the two really are self negating and can succeed on their own. Alfa Romeo buyers are more financially positioned and seek the “Italian” glamour above most anything the SUVs have in common. That glamour is, as I stated, self negating. Dodge buyers are a bit less prosperous, but more importantly seeking to relish in the Dodge performance aura, above again, anything the SUVs have in common. Alfa buyers demand attentive treatment and fluff. Dodge buyers tolerate the gruff indifference that goes with the brand. Heck, my typical New York Dodge dealer reeks insincerity and enjoys the games that define the car dealership vulgarity image. But yes, I still drive a Dodge Challenger R/T Plus with joy.
No I would not necessarily choose the Alfa, I’d chose to be treated as a valued and respected person. But Dodge folks won’t care so much and get a Hornet. Both SUVs will do well, in spite of the comparisons, different strokes for different folks and different demographic. Both are attractive and compelling.

I'm trying to get excited about the Hornet, but I just can't.

Its too expensive IMO, doesn't seem to get "good" fuel mileage from what I've seen, and the "performance" doesn't seem that attractive either to be honest.

I sat in one at the Toronto auto show and it was ok, but I would have preferred if they had at least used the Dodge steering wheel controls. I will say that I fit better than I expected, but it doesn't feel like a Dodge inside to me.

Wait every vehicle is for you :D .... I don't want one either, but I know some will like it and its way more Dodge then the pedestrian Journey. I bet there is STLA large CUV in Dodges future.

Wait let me correct that, Eventually I am going to want a daily driver with all wheel drive to let my 392 sit and collect value. This may be a option used over a Compass.

Aw shucks, little old me? :D

I understand that fully. I was hoping that the Hornet would be a vehicle that I could use to replace our Prius eventually without too bad of a MPG hit, but I'm not convinced yet. I'll go back to waiting for a Compass 4xe I think.

Yeah, while people complain about the cost or that it too much like the Tonale..... the real issue would be stepping all over the Compass. It needs to be different from the Compass, the chance of a Tonale on the same lot is slim.

Here's to the money this'll make for Dodges future from single moms, rental fleets, and non enthusiast older folk I suppose. Let's pray it fares better than the Dart.

People paid money, and I was one of them, for a Journey (my wife still gives me crap about it), this car far better fits Dodges image than the Journey, and not having a CUV at this point is brand suicide.

2012-2013 were peak Journeys IMO. They were ok. Not a luxury high quality vehicle for sure, but a good 5 passenger appliance with some Dodge looks. Probably should have been a Chrysler badged vehicle TBH.
Prior to the refresh in 2011, it stunk of dumbler cheapness
After 2013, the market severely outclassed it

Pure late day Daimler and Cerebrus Junk. Fiat made it passable, but the canvas was spoiled to begin with. Appliance for sure, driving dynamics were pitiful.
