Stellantis Recalls 38,164 Vehicles For Steering Column Module Issues
Stellantis (FCA US, LLC) is recalling approximately 38,164 vehicles because the steering column control module (SCCM) may not be welded properly. This can prevent the driver’s airbag from deploying in a crash. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 208, “Occupant Crash Protection.” An airbag that does not deploy when intended may result in an increased risk of injury to the driver in certain crashes. Jeep® Recalls 2016 Wrangler Sport RHD For Driver Airbag Issue
Stellantis (FCA US, LLC) is recalling 1,831 right-hand drive (RHD) 2016 Jeep® Wrangler (JK) vehicles due to an issue that may prevent the driver’s side airbag from deploying in a crash. According to the recall, debris contamination may cause the clockspring to fail, preventing the driver’s airbag from deploying in a crash. Some 2016 RHD models may have been built with a clockspring design that allows dust/debris to enter the mechanism, and they may experience a clockspring failure.
