While the Dodge Charger Daytona SRT Banshee Concept has been getting a lot of attention on display at the Detroit Auto Show this week, however, the car was caught on set filming back on August 28th, for the latest installment of “The Fast and the Furious” franchise: Fast X.
That’s right, it looks like the new Charger Daytona SRT Banshee Concept will be making an appearance in the movie. It was seen alongside a TorRed 2022 Dodge Charger R/T and Dom’s 1970 Dodge Charger R/T. And unlike Dom’s 1970 Charger which was on the back of a flatbed wrecker, the SRT Banshee Concept left under its own power. The other mysterious car on the back of the other flatbed is the all-new DeLorean Alpha 5 BEV.
The Dodge Charger Daytona SRT Banshee Concept is a preview of Dodge’s new “eMuscle” car. Banshee will be the next level of top performance for Charger, replacing the HELLCAT and Redeye names. The 800-volt Banshee propulsion system is rumored to have up to 1,050 horsepower, all-wheel drive (AWD), and a new eRupt multi-speed transmission with electro-mechanical shifting that delivers distinctive shift points.
The Dodge Design Studio in Auburn Hills has made it clear that the Charger Daytona SRT Banshee Concept is clearly inspired by the iconic 1968 Dodge Charger B-Body. Painted in a color called “Greys of Thunder” (hopefully another new future high-impact color), the car has a high-gloss Graphite look which enhances the car’s “coke-bottle” rear unches.
Fast X is scheduled to hit theaters on Friday, May 19th, 2023. The film stars Vin Diesel, Jason Statham, Michelle Rodriguez, John Cena, Jason Momoa, Brie Larson, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Jordana Brewster, Nathalie Emmanuel, Sung Kang, Scott Eastwood, Michael Rooker, Alan Ritchson, Daniela Melchior, Cardi B, Helen Mirren, Rita Moreno, and Charlize Theron.
