CAUGHT: 2026 Dodge Charger Outlaw Rips Through Detroit Streets

Twin-Turbo Charger Coupe Lets Loose While Filming In Downtown Detroit

It appears that yesterday, in downtown Detroit, Dodge was caught filming what looks—and sounds—like the all-new 2026 Dodge Charger Outlaw coupe. It didn’t take long for muscle car fans to take notice, especially once the exhaust note echoed off the buildings near Bagley and Cass Streets, near the Rosa Parks Transit Center downtown. A perfect setting for Dodge’s new muscle car, as it’s located near the iconic Woodward Avenue.

A Reddit user (carrotnose258) captured the moment, and The Drive was quick to point it out: this is our best real-world look (and listen) yet at the gas-powered SIXPACK version of the upcoming Charger.

The clip shows a bold Redeye-colored two-door Charger drifting through a closed intersection, with a Detroit Police Ford Explorer Interceptor blocking traffic nearby—clearly part of a Dodge film shoot, not a chase scene. From the tone of the engine, it’s obvious we’re not hearing a HEMI® V8. Instead, the exhaust has the telltale rasp and aggressive snarl of the twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter HURRICANE I6.

While Dodge hasn’t officially revealed the gasoline-powered Charger variants yet, signs are pointing to two key trims: GT and Outlaw, both powered by the new SIXPACK versions of the Hurricane I6. GT will represent the standard-output (S/O) trim, while Outlaw brings the high-output (H/O) heat. We’re talking 550 horsepower and 521 lb-ft of torque—a huge leap from the old 6.4-liter (392 cubic-inch) HEMI® “Apache” V8 in the 2015 to 2023 Dodge Charger and Challenger Scat Pack, with 65 more ponies and 51 extra lb-ft of torque.

Our sources have indicated that backing all that power up will be a new fourth-generation 8-speed 880RE automatic transmission and standard all-wheel drive (AWD), with a selectable rear-wheel-drive (RWD) mode for traditional muscle car tail-out fun.

Earlier this year, Stellantis added both GT and Outlaw trims to its internal Dealer Connect system, letting dealers begin early orders for the 2026 Charger lineup. Now, with The Drive calling attention to this Detroit sighting and with us finding that Dodge recently filed trademark applications for both “Outlaw” and “Charger Outlaw” with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, it seems Dodge is getting serious about this new era of muscle.

Finally, Dodge fans have something to get excited about. The 2026 Charger Outlaw is shaping up to be a wild ride, blending cutting-edge engineering with good old-fashioned Detroit attitude.

I want one .... but I really want it with the Hybrid ZF.

Lot of complaining about the sound but I think it sounds pretty good, Phone mic, long distance. Turbo are always more muted, I like a more bubbly sound but it louder than the truck for sure. Apache is one of the best sound engines ever made so it tough criteria. Honestly I think the new Coyote sounds like crap, and Vette 4 cylinders short of sounding correct.
