SNEAK PEEK: We Get A Teaser Look At The 2022 Jeep® Compass:

New Compass Will Debut Next Week...

We are only a week away from the debut of the mid-cycle-action (MCA) for the 2022 Jeep® Compass. While we have seen previews of the new design thanks to Chinese registration photos, we are now seeing the first teasers from the automaker themselves. In a new series of teaser images, we are finally getting a peek at just how much of the vehicle has been redone going into the next model year.

The first photo shows us an up-close look at the refreshed grille of the 2022 Jeep Compass. Featuring a more complex grille texture, we can see a new forward-facing camera for the new 360-degree camera system located in dead-center into the seven-slot grille. We can also see the new grille design is adopting the racked waterfall design of the upcoming 2022 Jeep Wagoneer/Grand Wagoneer grille, something that will probably be adopted from the rest of the core Jeep lineup. This shows us the design direction that the Jeep design team is taking to take the seven-slot grille design further into the future.

In the second photo, we clearly get a preview of the new front end styling of the 2022 Compass Limited. With its new LED headlamps which will be standard across the lineup, we see the Compass’ new distinctive LED daytime-running light (DRL) signature. New LED fog lamps are housed in a completely new front fascia design that is more aggressive than before. This front end design matches the pictures from the registration photos we saw, earlier this month.

The newly redesigned instrument panel (I/P) can be previewed in the third photo. No longer are the vents placed to the side of the Uconnect infotainment system and instead are placed below it. We also see a more upscale looking interior with a full leather-wrapped I/P with french stitching, touches of aluminum accents, and a completely different design to center stack. It also appears that the Jeep design also has paid attention to even the minor details of the interior, such as the detail to the push-button start. A similar touch was done to the new Grand Wagoneer Concept, shown earlier this year. We can also see the blurred images of the controls that house the upgraded advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS).

In the fourth picture, we are getting a preview of the new 10.1-inch Uconnect 5 infotainment touchscreen in a tablet form. While tablet infotainment systems are disliked by most of North America, they still continue to be popular in Europe and Asia. This marks the first time that a tablet-like infotainment system has been done in a Jeep product. However, we can see that it clearly integrates the Uconnect 5 software, which means a high level of customizability will be at the hands of owners of the new Compass.

Our sources have indicated that the new large 10.1-inch Uconnect 5 tablet infotainment will only be in select models of the new Compass. There will be smaller operating systems, however, it is still unclear if we will be seeing additional Uconnect 5 systems or repackaged Uconnect 4C systems with smaller touchscreens. We saw a smaller touchscreen in spy shots from our friends at Autocar India back in July.

The last teaser photo shows us the passenger side of the I/P. On this what appears to be a Limited model, we see that the leather-wrapped mid-bolster goes all the way across the dash. Aluminum accents appear on the side of the I/P similar to what we saw earlier on the Grand Wagoneer Concept. It appears a two-tone Mocca/Black interior will be an option, as the mid-bolster and the upper part of the I/P contrast in color. It appears to be a much more attractive layout over the current model.

We also can see new vent treatments that are a similar shape to those found in the updated 2021 Dodge Durango. Unlike the chrome accents shown on the Durango model, the 2022 Jeep Compass appears to get rid of the chrome details in favor of keeping the interior more budget-friendly.

The 2022 Jeep Compass will debut at the Guangzhou International  Auto Show in China, next week. Stay tuned as we will continue to bring you more details on the 2022 Jeep Compass as it becomes available.
