Budget Off-Roader: 2022 Ram 1500 Classic Warlock 4×4 All-Terrain!
The Cheaper / Older Ram 1500 Rebel...
Despite its age, the fourth-generation Ram 1500 Classic (DS) continues to prove that it is still strongly competitive in the full-size pickup segment. Much of that success comes from the highly-popular Warlock trim, a name that pays homage to the original Warlock pickups of the 1970s (something we challenged when we originally reviewed the truck in 2019).
At the time, the Warlock was only available with 20-inch x 9-inch wheels and P275/60R20 all-season tires. With its Rebel looks, it was a disappointment simply due to the fact that Ram missed out on a key opportunity to market the truck as an entry-level off-roader. Fast forward a year and a half, Ram finally listened and offered an All-Terrain Package on the Warlock for the 2021 model year.
Completely altering the looks and appeal of the truck, the optional $195 USD/$495 CAD All-Terrain Package transforms the Warlock into one of the most-affordable off-road-oriented pickups on the road.
The All-Terrain Package package adds 17-inch x 8-inch Matte Black aluminum wheels, LT265/70R17E Yokohama Geolander A/T rubber, and front and rear rubber floor mats by Mopar.
Now, while the Ram 1500 Classic may seem old compared to its competition, Ram continues to tweak its equipment as time goes on. While a 7-inch Uconnect 3 touchscreen is standard, two different 8.4-inch touchscreens are available.
For those wanting navigation, Ram continues to use the Uconnect 4C system. However, if you could care less about navigation, Ram will give you the latest Uconnect 5 version of the 8.4-inch screen.
Under the hood, is the 5.7-liter (345 cubic-inch) HEMI V8. While the hemispherical head design yields built-in efficiencies, other engineering highlights include Variable Valve Timing (VVT) and a fuel-conscious Multi-Displacement System (MDS) that transforms the HEMI into a robust 4-cylinder when less power is needed.
The TorqueFlite 8-speed 8HP70 automatic transmission enables exceptional acceleration in lower gears while optimizing thermal control for efficiency and durability. The combination can provide up to 10,620 lbs. of max towing.

With a Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $68,835 CAD (including a destination price of $2,095) on the window sticker, it may seem quite pricey for a fourth-generation Ram 1500 Classic, but it does have almost every option box checked. Building the exact truck on the American RamTrucks.com Build & Price configurator, the truck showed an MSRP of $59,985 USD (including $1,495 for destination charges).
Currently in both the U.S. and Canadian markets, the Ram 1500 Classic does have incentives on the trucks, which can mark them down anywhere from a few hundred to several thousand dollars cheaper than their MSRP.
For those looking for an even cheaper option, a 2022 Ram 1500 Warlock Quad Cab 4×4 with the All-Terrain Package can start at $46,370 USD (including destination), the same truck in Canada will set you back $61,480 CAD (including destination).
