An Electrified Next-Generation Fiat Panda Could Start Production At Kragujevac In 2023!

It appears that Stellantis (FCA Serbia) will start production of an electric variant of the next-generation Fiat Panda at the Kragujevac Assembly Plant in 2023, according to reports.

The slower arrival of parts and components, caused the plant to make headlines this week after production of the Fiat 500L had to be halted after a supply shortage. FCA Serbia announced that production of the 500L would continue on Tuesday, April 12th. The constant parts shortages and slow sales of the 500L have left the employees at the plant, wondering about the future of the product at the facility. 

FCA Serbia restarted operations at Kragujevac after a 50-day break caused by a shortage of parts.

FCA Serbia is a joint venture between Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) now Stellantis, which owns 67% of its capital, and the Serbian government, which owns the remainder.

The President of the Autonomous Trade Union for FIAT, Zoran Miljkovic, said they have received unofficial information from the cabinet of the Prime Minister of Serbia (Ana Brnabic) that the production of FIAT will remain in Serbia, and starting in 2023, electrified models would be produced, more probably the next-generation Fiat Panda.

In recent days, Stellantis officially confirmed that the next-generation Fiat Panda would not be produced in the Pomigliano Assembly Plant. Instead, the current model will continue in production at the Pomigliano plant until 2026. Meaning that the two vehicles will coexist with the same nameplate for a couple of years.

It is rumored that the next-generation Fiat Panda, will be based on the 2019 Fiat Centoventi Concept. The Centoventi Concept received great praise due to its innovative interior, customizable exterior, and multiple upgradable battery packs.
