BraunAbility Recalls Pacifica and Voyager Vans for Loose Seat Fasteners

Improperly Tightened Bolts on Restraint Pucks May Pose Crash Safety Risk

Braun Corporation (BraunAbility) has issued a safety recall for select 2021-2025 Chrysler Pacifica and 2022-2025 Chrysler Voyager vans due to a problem with the occupant restraint tie-down pucks. These are the anchor points used to secure wheelchairs or other adaptive seating systems, and the bolts holding them in place may not have been tightened correctly during the factory assembly.

The issue affects 130 units of the Chrysler Pacifica and 421 units of the Chrysler Voyager, all of which were modified by BraunAbility between January 6, 2025, and May 29, 2025. According to Braun, some of these vehicles may have restraint puck fasteners that weren’t torqued or tightened according to the supplier’s specs. That means in a crash, these anchor points might not hold up properly, increasing the chance of injury or worse.

BraunAbility states that the problem stems from torque tools used on the production line that weren’t properly calibrated. After a customer reported a loose puck, Braun initiated an internal review, which revealed inconsistencies. All vehicles still in Braun’s inventory were immediately inspected. The bolts were removed, blue thread locker was applied, and they were retorqued to 40 ft-lbs using properly calibrated tools.

Recall Chronology –

  • May 28, 2025: BraunAbility receives a report from a customer about a loose occupant restraint puck in one of their vans.

  • May 29, 2025: An internal investigation finds improperly calibrated torque tools were used during installation. All inventory on Braun’s lot is pulled, inspected, and repaired with blue thread locker and properly torqued bolts. A new quality control process is implemented the same day.

  • May 30, 2025: Braun dispatches service and quality teams to inspect previously built inventory at dealer lots.

  • June 3, 2025: Through inspections, the affected production window is confirmed to be from January 6, 2025, to May 29, 2025.

  • July 7, 2025: Owner notification letters are expected to begin mailing.

Owners don’t need to panic—dealers will inspect and retorque the fasteners at no additional charge. The fix involves removing the current hardware and retightening it to 35 ft-lbs, as outlined in Braun’s Service Bulletin 090180. Repairs must also be logged in BraunAbility’s Connect+ Warranty System for proper reimbursement.

Owner notification letters are expected to go out starting July 7, 2025. If you believe your vehicle is part of this recall or have questions, Braun’s customer service line is 1-800-488-0359.

Although only a small number of vans are involved, this is a crucial fix to ensure occupant safety, particularly for customers who rely on mobility aids.

How in the heck is this possible? These UAW guys are paid very, very well and not tightening a bolt seems insane. Is this a sabotage mindset because of job cuts?
Sadly, I’m leaning that way considering bolt tightening is not exactly rocket science. I’d fire the people responsible since shifting them to a less challenging job might be impossible. Let see, place wrench over bolt, turn until tight. Done.
Yea, sabotage or total incompetence. Fire them!
