Black Or White? Maserati & Fragment Create Two New Ghibli Special Editions:
Japanese Streetwear Legend Hiroshi Fujiwara Creates His Ideal Ghiblis...
The Maserati brand and Hiroshi Fujiwara, the Japanese godfather of street culture, have been partnered to create two unique special edition models for the Maserati Ghibli. Known as a trendsetter, one of the first DJs to import hip hop to Japan, and a producer/musician working with international recording artist, Fujiwara is known for expressing aspects of urban experience moods.
Using the Maserati Fuoriserie customization program, which permits customers to create their own Maserati, tailored to their unique tastes, Fujiwara has created two special edition models. In the spirit of the concept of “ITANJI”, a Japanese term signifying the coming together of Italian design and Japanese perfection, Operabianca and Operanera were born.
Rather than using the new Ghibli Hybrid as its base, the two new special editions are built on the regular Ghibli GranLusso sedan. The pair, one in all-black (Operanera) and the other in all-white (Operabianca), use the visual cues of the Ghibli and the street style of Hiroshi’s brand, Fragment, to form a stunning duet.
Underneath the three iconic side air ducts, is the text “M157110519FRG”. The alphanumeric tag signals the partnership between the Maserati and Fragment brands, as “M157” is the internal program code for the Ghibli “110519” represent the first meeting of the partnership on November 5th, 2019, and “FRG” meaning Fragment.
Fujiwara’s metropolitan style is reflected in the unique grille and in the “Fragment” logo, adapted uniquely for this edition. To complete the exteriors, both Ghibli Operanera and the Ghibli Operabianca are fitted with 20-inch “Urano” Matte Black aluminum wheels and the Fragment logo on the C-Pillar.
Inside, the interiors of both cars are featured in premium leather and Alcantara, with contrasting silver inserts for the vertical stitching and the Trident on the headrests. Dark Blue seat belts also help highlight the all-black interior.
A total of 175 units will be produced for global markets. Maserati has yet to say how many of each color will be made.
