LEAKED: The New Dodge LEGO® Speed Champions Set For 2021:

Three years ago, Danish building block builder LEGO® released a series of automotive-themed building kits under the name of “Speed Champions”. The line was highly successful for LEGO and included the Mopar licensed set of the 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon and 1970 Dodge Charger R/T. Dodge//SRT and LEGO partnered for a promotion at the initial launch of the building set which included a 30-second commercial featuring Mopar & Dodge//SRT Top Fuel Dragster driver Leah Pruett (who also helped in the testing of the Challenger SRT Demon during development).

The Dodge-themed sets proved to be one of the most popular sets of the series. MoparInsiders.com even did a giveaway of the kit, before it was launched in which one of our readers was one of the first to get one of the sets sent to them.

Well this weekend, YouTuber ‘Brick Clicker’ found leaked photos of a newly Mopar licensed set from Reddit user Samurai_Happy who happened to find the set on the shelf of a Target in Washington. The 2021 LEGO Speed Champions Mopar Dodge//SRT Top Fuel Dragster and 1970 Dodge Challenger T/A will make their official launch in June of this year. The newest LEGO Speed Champions set (#76904) will feature 627 pieces and will have a rumored price of $49.99 USD.

It appears that the 1970 Dodge Challenger T/A Speed Champions car looks very similar to the 2018 Dodge Challenger build in the 2019 Speed Champions set. As for the Mopar Dodge//SRT Top Fuel Dragster, it appears to come with a LEGO figure looking a lot like Leah Pruett and even features a working closed canopy. The exterior scheme pays homage to Pruett’s “Angry Bee” Mopar Dodge 1320 Top Fuel scheme to much success during 2018.

Pruett debuted the 1320-themed livery on her Top Fuel dragster at the Dodge Mile-High NHRA Nationals in July, where she helped to announce Dodge’s street-to-strip Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack 1320 drag car. Pruett raced her “Angry Bee” Mopar Dodge 1320 Top Fuel car, which features a modern tweak of the legendary Dodge Super Bee logo, all the way to the event win at Denver. 

LEGO and the Chrysler Group have partnered in numerous kits over the past three years. This includes the Fiat 500 LEGO Creator Expert set, LEGO® Technic™ Dom’s Dodge Charger set, and the Jeep® Wrangler Rubicon LEGO Technic set.

With the 2021 NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series Championship underway, we expect Mopar, Dodge//SRT, and Leah Pruett will end up doing a similar promotion as they did back in 2018. The success of the marketing of such products helps the Mopar and Dodge//SRT brand does not only build brand awareness with fans and collectors but the next generation of drivers as well.
