A rare and well-preserved 1979 Chrysler 300 is now available for bidding on BringATrailer, offering Mopar fans a chance to own one of just over 3,800 examples built. Even rarer, only 200 units were produced with factory T-Tops, making those models true collector’s items.
My father recently purchased one of these T-Top-equipped 300s, and we’re excited to feature the car more once the winter weather clears. But for now, this low-mileage, non-T-Top example with just 29,000 miles presents a great opportunity for collectors looking for a well-preserved piece of Mopar history. Especially, considering it was the last year for the beloved B-Body.
A Limited-Edition Revival –

Chrysler originally introduced the 300 series in 1955, building a legacy of high-performance luxury coupes until the early ’70s. The nameplate returned briefly in 1979 with a special-edition model based on the Cordoba two-door hardtop. This particular example is finished in factory-correct Spinnaker White (EW1), accented by red and blue tape stripes along the body sides, decklid, and mirror caps. Signature tri-color 300 medallion badges adorn the grille and taillights, paying homage to Chrysler’s legendary performance heritage.
Other styling cues include fender louvers, stacked headlights, chrome bumpers with body-color guards, and remotely adjustable dual-side mirrors. The selling dealer notes that the windshield wiper hardware has been replaced, and minor brush touch-ups are present.
Classic Mopar Performance –

Under the hood, an E58 5.9-liter (360 cubic-inch) LA V8 powers this 300, factory-rated at 195 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque. The engine features electronic ignition, a four-barrel carburetor, and a dual exhaust system, sending power to the rear wheels through a 727 TorqueFlite three-speed automatic transmission.
Front and rear anti-roll bars, power-assisted steering, and power-assisted front disc brakes with rear drums enhance handling. The car retains its original 15-inch aluminum wheels with turbine-style trim wrapped in Goodyear tires.
Red Leather Interior & Classic Features –

The 300 offers a red leather-trimmed interior with front bucket seats and a rear bench. The engine-turned dashboard fascia houses an 85-mph speedometer and a tachometer, while a red leather-wrapped steering wheel adds to the period-correct styling. Factory features include air conditioning and a push-button radio, though the digital clock is inoperative.
