AUCTION: Ex–Rusty Wallace 2005 Dodge Charger NASCAR Race Car
Car Ran In Daytona 500 and at Goodwood Revival...
If you’re a fan of NASCAR and want to own a piece of racing history, here’s your chance! Up for auction on BringATrailer.com is Rusty Wallace’s 2005 Dodge Charger NASCAR NEXTEL Cup race car. This iconic vehicle, built by Penske Motorsports, not only participated in the 2005 Daytona 500 but also made a special appearance at the 2009 Goodwood Revival in the UK to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Daytona 500.
Sporting the distinctive #2 Miller Lite livery, the car features a tube-frame chassis and eye-catching blue and silver bodywork. With a sleek Dodge Charger-style design, it includes an adjustable rear spoiler, wind strakes, side-exit exhaust pipes, and Daytona 500 graphics. The aerodynamic 15-inch wheels, complemented by new Goodyear slicks, enhance the car’s overall performance.
Step inside the cockpit, and you’ll find a gray-painted interior with a full roll cage, fixed bucket seat, and safety features like a window net and Impact racing harness. The three-spoke Schroeder steering wheel with a quick-release hub sits in front of AutoMeter instrumentation, including a 10k-rpm tachometer. Toggle controls for various vehicle functions and MSD ignition boxes atop the dash complete the driver-focused setup.
Powering this beast is a 5.8-liter (358 cubic-inch) V8 engine, reportedly built by Penske Racing and installed in 2009. Fed by a Holley 830-cfm NASCAR carburetor with a carbon-fiber air-cleaner cover, the engine delivers the thrilling performance expected from a NASCAR race car. The four-speed manual transmission sends power to a solid rear axle.
Equipped with AP Racing four-wheel disc brakes and suspension dampers from Rusty Wallace Racing, this car is not just a showpiece – it’s built for performance. Included in the auction is an extra set of wheels with used tires, offering flexibility for different driving conditions.
The current owner, who acquired the car in May 2021, is now consigning it for sale in California. The car comes with a bill of sale, and its previous sale on BringATrailer.com in 2021 reached $70,500.
Don’t miss your chance to bid on this extraordinary piece of NASCAR history! The auction ends on Tuesday, February 6th, 2024, at 4:00 p.m. EST.
