We have seen a lot of awesome 1970 to 1974 Dodge Challenger (E-Bodies) up for sale over the past year. However, there is one 1970 model that caught our attention earlier this week. This beautiful 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T HEMI is scheduled to cross the auction block at this week’s 2022 Mecum Indy event.
Still, in unrestored condition, the car was under its original owner’s care until May 2021. The car was shipped new to Davenport Dodge, Inc. in Davenport, Iowa, and is listed with the Y13 code (Dealer Demonstrator) on the fender tag. Painted in the beautiful high-impact color of HEMI Orange (EV2) with its original Black vinyl top, this Challenger matches its matching number 7.0-liter (426 cubic-inch) HEMI V8.
The 426 HEMI is mated to an A833 4-speed manual transmission (D21) and fitted with a Pistol Grip Shifter. Being a HEMI car, the car is fitted with the Super Track Pack Package with Dana 60 rear-axle with Sure-Grip limited-slip, 4.10 rear axle ratio, 7-blade Torque Drive fans, 26-inch radiator with shroud, HEMI suspension handling package, and power front disc brakes (A34). The HEMI only has 6,341 original miles on the odometer and is 1 of only 136 Challenger R/T HEMI cars produced with the factory 4-speed for the 1970 model year.
The car comes equipped with its original Rallye wheels which are wrapped with its original white-lettered Goodyear Polygas GT F60-15 tires.
It is also fitted with a tinted windshield, original bucket seats, and a full center console. Special options include a “Music Master” AM ratio, remote driver’s mirror, and hood hold-down pins. The car comes with its original window sticker, buyer’s order and broadcast sheet, a Dave Wise report plus a copy of its original title as well.
