Alfa Romeo Says Addio To Its 4C Spider With Limited Edition Model:
Pays Homage To The Iconic 1967 Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale...
The 2020 model year marks the end of the Alfa Romeo 4C Spider. The mid-engined sports car relaunched the Italian performance brand in the North American market back in 2015. Alfa Romeo dropped the 4C Coupe from its lineup after the 2018 model year, leaving many to wonder if the Spider model was buying time till its demise.
Yesterday, Alfa Romeo pulled the covers off of its 2020 Alfa Romeo 4C Spider 33 Stradale Tributo, a limited-edition tribute to the brand’s iconic 1967 Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale. The 33 Stradale was a hand-built road-going version of the iconic Tipo 33 race car that won the 1968 24 Hours of Daytona. Only 18 units of the Stradale were ever produced, making it one of the rarest Alfa Romeo models ever produced. A fitting limited-edition for the end of the 4C Spider.
The 2020 Alfa Romeo 4C Spider 33 Stradale Tributo features the following equipment…
- Exclusive Rosso Villa d’Este Tri-Coat exterior paint (not available on any other 4C variant)
- Exclusive 18-Inch x 7-Inch Front / 19-Inch x 8.5-Inch Gray-Gold 5-Hole Aluminum Wheels
- Composite Sport Seats with Black Dinamica® and Tobacco Leather
- Progressively Numbered Plate on the Center Console
- Commemorative Badging, Plaques, and Book (detailing the 4C’s history)
- Akrapovic Dual Mode Center Exhaust
- Bi-Xenon Headlamps
- Battery Charger
- Car Cover
- Carbon Fiber Halo
- Carbon Fiber Rear Wing
- Carbon Fiber Italian Flag Mirrors
- Carbon Fiber Monocoque Chassis in Red Transparent Finish
- Front Fascia with Carbon Fiber Vents
The 4C Spider 33 Stradale Tributo checks off most of the standard 4C Spider’s options list. But what really stands out is the red transparent finish given to the Formula-One inspired carbon fiber monocoque chassis. It marks the first time that a monocoque chassis has been presented in such a way.
Powering the 4C Spider 33 Stradale Tributo is an all-aluminum 1.75-liter (1750cc) turbocharged four-cylinder with direct injection, dual intercoolers, and variable-valve timing. The robust little turbo engine produces 237 horsepower and 258 lb.-ft. of torque and is mated to a 6-speed twin-clutch automatic transmission. The mid-engine, rear-wheel-drive 4C Spider 33 Stradale weighs less than 2,500 lbs., giving the sporty roadster a power-to-weight ratio of 10.4 lb/hp. It allows the 4C Spider 33 Stradale Tributo to hit 0 to 60 mph in 4.1 seconds and a top speed of 160 mph.
There will only be 33 units of the limited-edition model built, a bit of a shocker considering Alfa has only sold 92 of the standard 4C Spiders during the entire 2020 model year. The 4C Spider 33 Stradale Tributo will have a starting U.S. Manufacturer Suggest Retail Price (MSRP) of $79,995 (excluding destination) or $92,690 for those living in Canada.
Those who are interested in purchasing one of the limited-edition models are asked to contact Alfa Romeo directly at [email protected].
