Alfa Romeo Opens Up Ordering For The Tonale Down Under!
Hybrid Model Is Now Available To Order In Australia...
Alfa Romeo has just opened up its ordering banks for the all-new 2023 Alfa Romeo Tonale in Australia.
Starting at AU$49,900 (or about $32,310 USD), Australian customers have the choice between two models: the Ti or Veloce. Both models are expected to start arriving in dealer showrooms in February 2023.
Now while Australian customers will be able to get the same gasoline models offered in Europe, only the hybrid front-wheel drive (FWD) are available to order at the moment. A plug-in hybrid (PHEV) version with all-wheel drive (AWD) will be available sometime later in 2023.
Those who select a front-wheel-drive (FWD), will get the new turbocharged 1.5-liter inline-four-cylinder gasoline mHEV engine first shown on the Jeep® Renegade and Compass e-Hybrid models. The engine delivers 160 horsepower (118 kW) and 177 ft.-lbs. (240 Nm) of torque, mated to a new 7-speed 7HDT300 dual-clutch automatic transmission.
The new propulsion system includes a built-in 48-volt 20 horsepower (15 kW) electric motor delivering 41 ft.-lbs. (55 Nm) of torque – equalizing to 99 ft.-lbs. (135 Nm) of torque at gearbox input level – which can propel the wheels even when the internal combustion engine (ICE) is turned off. The new Tonale offers up to 15% lower consumption and CO2 emissions than other C-UVs that the automaker built perviously.
The Tonale Hybrid models will have a fuel economy rating of 5.6L/100km, thanks to the Tonale ability to operate on electric power alone at low speeds.
