Goodyear And Citroën Reinvent The Tire With Eagle Xplore
Smart Rubber Meets Future Mobility
Goodyear and Stellantis’ Citroën brand have joined forces on a forward-thinking project that treats the tire as far more than a round piece of rubber. Introduced alongside the Citroën ELO Concept, the all-new Goodyear Eagle Xplore concept tire is designed as a rolling test bed for future technology, connectivity, and design—showing how tires can actively communicate with both the driver and the vehicle itself.

At the center of the collaboration is Citroën’s ELO Concept, a vehicle created to explore new ideas that could influence the brand’s future products. Goodyear’s role was to rethink how a tire can contribute to that mission. The result is Eagle Xplore, a bespoke concept tire that blends rugged capability, high-performance heritage, and smart technology into one highly integrated package.
Visually, Eagle Xplore immediately stands out. The tire features a bold orange sidewall pigment that directly references the ELO Concept’s signature color, reinforcing the idea that tires can be a core design element rather than an afterthought. It’s a subtle but important shift, turning the tire into a customizable extension of the vehicle’s personality.

Underneath the styling, however, is where Eagle Xplore really pushes boundaries. The tire is equipped with Goodyear SightLine, the company’s advanced suite of tire intelligence technologies. In simple terms, SightLine allows the tire to monitor its own condition and share that information with the vehicle in real time. Data such as tire pressure and load is sent directly to the cockpit and is also accessible through the ELO Concept’s app.
One of the most eye-catching innovations is how tire pressure is displayed. For the first time, SightLine projects real-time pressure status directly onto the wheel rim through an LED sidebar under the center cap logo. A green light means the tire is operating at optimal pressure, while red alerts the driver that an adjustment is needed. It’s an intuitive, glanceable system designed to make maintenance easier and help drivers keep their vehicle operating efficiently.

From a performance standpoint, Eagle Xplore draws inspiration from Goodyear’s well-known Eagle performance lineup, while also borrowing design cues from the brand’s Wrangler off-road tires. The tread pattern is built to deliver confident traction across a variety of surfaces, aligning with the ELO Concept’s adventurous and exploratory nature. Goodyear says SightLine’s predictive capabilities can also help maintain vehicle stability in challenging conditions and extend tire life by keeping pressures where they should be.
“Goodyear Eagle Xplore is where innovation meets style,” said Ben Glesener, Senior Technology Director, Product Development, Consumer EMEA. “By combining distinctive design, intelligent innovation, and seamless connectivity, Goodyear is redefining the future of mobility with tailored solutions that transform every journey into an extraordinary experience”.

While Eagle Xplore remains a concept, the ideas behind it are very real. As vehicles become more connected and software-driven, tires are clearly part of that evolution. Together, Goodyear and Citroën are showing a future where tires don’t just support the journey—they actively participate in it.
