Stellantis Expands AI Partnership with Mistral to Transform Operation

Automaker Aims To Put Artificial Intelligence at the Center of its Business

Artificial intelligence (AI) is no longer just a buzzword in the automotive industry—it’s becoming a real competitive advantage. Stellantis has taken another significant step in this direction by expanding its partnership with French tech company Mistral AI. The announcement was made during Italian Tech Week, signaling Stellantis’ intent to embed AI into nearly every corner of its business.

Moving Beyond Experimentation –

Over the past year and a half, Stellantis and Mistral AI have been collaborating closely on a range of projects, from developing smarter in-car assistants to enhancing business and engineering workflows with AI models. According to Stellantis Chief Engineering & Technology Officer Ned Curic, the collaboration has already delivered real-world results. Now, both companies are entering a new phase where AI is no longer just an add-on tool—it becomes central to how Stellantis operates.

Why It Matters –

The automotive industry is undergoing a major transformation. Between the push toward electrification, the rise of connected vehicles, and the shift in consumer expectations, companies are under pressure to work faster, smarter, and leaner. Stellantis sees AI as the key to making that happen. By leveraging Mistral AI’s customizable solutions, the automaker aims to enhance efficiency, expedite development, and deliver a superior overall customer experience.

Two New Platforms –

Stellantis and Mistral AI Expand Artificial Intelligence Efforts. (Stellantis).

To make sure this isn’t just talk, Stellantis and Mistral AI are launching two dedicated programs:

  • Innovation Lab – Designed to co-develop AI tools for complex business problems. A strong focus will be on sales and after-sales, where customer relationships and service are most important.

  • Transformation Academy – Focused on scaling up adoption across the company. This will help Stellantis transform promising AI prototypes into production-ready tools that have a measurable impact on the business.

Together, these platforms are designed to serve as engines that propel Stellantis beyond small pilot projects and into full-scale deployment.

The Customer Angle –

For drivers, this could mean more personalized service at dealerships, smarter aftersales support, and faster problem-solving when vehicles need attention. Internally, Stellantis expects to utilize AI-driven insights to help engineers and product teams work more efficiently, ultimately bringing innovations to market more quickly and with higher quality.

Long-Term Outlook –

Stellantis’ management team has been clear: the company wants to be seen as a technology leader, not just a traditional automaker. By teaming up with Mistral AI, Stellantis is signaling that it views distributed intelligence as a long-term competitive edge. For customers, that should translate into better vehicles, smarter services, and a smoother ownership experience. For Stellantis, it’s a way to stay ahead in one of the most competitive industries on the planet.

This is basically a replacement for the 500x (is it supposed to pronounced cross?) correct? This seems like a PT Cruiser sized vehicle but the exterior and interior are not to N.A. tastes. Would this footprint with an updated clip and more Chrysler future interior sell 50k units a year in the NAFTA ?

Its been running around in the open. Its the Fiat Coachwork version of the Avenger. So this is a true B version Renegade/500X Bplus.

There is enough distinctive sheet metal here to separate from the Jeep Avenger. Hope this Fiat helps bolster their sales in Europe. The only chance Fiat has in the North American market is new product. Doubt this will come stateside but you never know. Alfa Romeo and Maserati are in much better shape, but these two brands need more product too.

Fiat can do well with only 2 models in the USA, if those two models are marketed correctly. Fiat USA hasn't done this so far. When I say two models , this means the 500e two door and the 600 four door. I'm lumping the Abarth models in with the two door even though it's considered a different model.Battery electric is the way to go for city cars, although a plugin hybrid version of the 600 would also work here as well.

As I have said before, the one Fiat model which will work as a badge engineered Chrysler would be the Sevel Nord built Doblo, specifically the SWB passenger wagon. That would be a great PT Cruiser replacement.

Honest question .... where do you charge your car if you live in a high rise.

I always thought the Panda would do well, and Tipo Cross as a Chrysler.
