Stellantis Design Studio & Windelo Reveal Windelo 62 Catamaran
Automotive-Inspired Design Meets Eco-Friendly Sailing
Sailing and automotive design don’t often cross paths, but when they do, the results can be game-changing. Stellantis Design Studio has teamed up with French catamaran builder Windelo and naval architects Barreau-Neuman to launch a new era of sustainable luxury sailing. Their latest creation, the Windelo 62, made its world debut at the Cannes Yachting Festival 2025. Alongside it, the slightly smaller Windelo 58 was also revealed, marking a major leap forward in design, performance, and sustainability.
Blending Automotive Passion with Nautical Performance –

Stellantis brought its design studio into the marine world to push boundaries. The team applied the same principles that go into crafting performance cars—proportion, stance, and flow—to the hull and cabin lines of Windelo’s new catamarans. The result? A striking yet functional design that balances performance with everyday comfort.
The Windelo 62 doesn’t just look fast and futuristic—it’s built with eco-friendly materials and layouts that keep sustainability at the forefront. This boat reflects Windelo’s mission: building high-performance sailing vessels that leave a lighter footprint on the planet while still delivering a luxury experience.
The 360 HORIZON Cabin – A Game-Changer at Sea –

One of the standout features of the Windelo 62 is its 360 HORIZON Cabin. Unlike traditional catamarans, where structural frames often block views, this design uses a “floating roof” with hidden supports, creating uninterrupted panoramic views. From the cockpit to the cabins below, sailors get a constant connection with the ocean around them.
The open bridge layout keeps everything ergonomic, while a full-width floating instrument panel hides the window frame, shielding the crew from waves without breaking the view. Even the rear deck has been reimagined—its “floating wing” design makes the vessel appear wider, improving both aesthetics and visibility.
Fast-Track Innovation with High-Tech Tools –

What’s just as impressive as the design itself is how quickly it came together. Stellantis Design Studio utilized artificial intelligence and holographic immersive tools to expedite the creative process. Designers could model, test, and refine concepts in real-time, allowing them to explore multiple design paths before landing on the final look.
This high-speed development cycle also meant Windelo could design two additional models—the Windelo 63 and Windelo 59—at the same time, ensuring a cohesive family design across the entire range.
A True Collaboration Across Industries –

For Windelo CEO Gautier Kauffmann, the partnership has been more than just about aesthetics. He says the Stellantis team helped redefine what a Windelo catamaran can be, sharpening the company’s design signature while keeping performance and sustainability at the core. Naval architects Christophe Barreau and Frédéric Neuman echoed that sentiment, noting that Stellantis brought fresh ideas to traditional marine design, raising the bar for the entire project.
Hugo Nightingale, Creative Director at Stellantis Design Studio, summed it up best: this collaboration was about transferring the bold proportions of cars into a marine environment. In practice, that means a boat that looks powerful, sails with confidence, and still feels like a comfortable living space.
See It at Cannes –

The Windelo 62 and Windelo 58 will officially be unveiled at the Cannes Yachting Festival, running September 9–14, 2025, at Port Canto. Visitors will be able to experience the boats up close and see how automotive design has reshaped the sailing world.
The Windelo 62 isn’t just another luxury catamaran—it’s a statement that design can cross industries to create something entirely new. By combining the precision and flair of automotive design with the sustainability and craftsmanship of French boatbuilding, Stellantis and Windelo have created a vessel that redefines what modern sailing can be.
This project highlights a broader trend: industries collaborating to push boundaries and create products that serve both performance and the planet. For sailors who want the thrill of high performance, the comfort of a luxury home on water, and the satisfaction of sustainability, the Windelo 62 looks like a glimpse of the future.
