RECALL: Mopar Center Stack Displays May Disable Rear Camera

Affects Alfa Romeo Tonale and Dodge Hornet Center Stack Display Parts

Stellantis (FCA US, LLC) is recalling approximately 206 units of Mopar Center Stack Displays (also known as the 10.1-inch Uconnect 5 touchscreen) with Part No. 68631354AA, which are used on the Alfa Romeo Tonale (GC) and Dodge Hornet (GG). These disassociated center stack displays (DCSDs) contain a microprocessor with a software error and an improper voltage regulator connection, which may prevent the rearview camera image from displaying. As such, this equipment fails to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 111, “Rear Visibility.”

The suspect part population includes DCSDs built from July 1, 2022, through October 26, 2023, as determined using supplier shipment records and sales data for the affected parts. Similar DCSDs manufactured after the suspect period are not included in the recall.

A rearview image that does not display reduces the driver’s visibility, increasing the risk of a crash.

Recall Chronology –

  • March 14, 2024: Stellantis Europe Customer Experience (CX) opened an investigation into a potential issue involving rearview cameras not displaying in certain 2023–2025 MY Alfa Romeo Tonale and Dodge Hornet vehicles.

  • March–April 2024: Stellantis Europe CX reviewed warranty data, field reports, and customer assistance records to assess potential customer impact.

  • May–June 2024: Stellantis Europe CX held regular meetings with Stellantis Europe Engineering and Supplier Quality to evaluate manufacturing and quality control processes, part design, and production records.

  • July–August 2024: Stellantis Europe Engineering conducted component-level tests to reproduce the issue.

  • September–October 2024: Vehicle-level tests were performed, including debugging and CAN communication recordings on field vehicles.

  • November–December 2024: Stellantis Europe CX received new information and resumed regular meetings with Engineering and Supplier Quality teams to reanalyze the failure mode, assess new warranty claims, and determine the impact on the suspect population.

  • January–March 2025: Stellantis Europe Engineering and Supplier Quality, along with the supplier, identified a software defect that inhibits the proper power-up sequence.

  • April 3, 2025: Stellantis Europe CX confirmed a vehicle build issue affecting rearview image display, indicating potential noncompliance with FMVSS No. 111.

  • May 20, 2025: Stellantis Europe CX, through the Vehicle Regulations Committee, decided to initiate a voluntary safety recall of the affected parts.

Remedy and Customer Notification – 

Dealers will inspect and replace the DCSD as necessary, free of charge. If the DCSD is not installed in a vehicle, dealers will repurchase the unit. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on June 19, 2025. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 800-853-1403. Chrysler’s recall number for this campaign is 48C.
