Worker Killed in Accident at Stellantis Dundee Engine Plant
Police Scanner Traffic Suggests Employee May Have Been Crushed

A tragic workplace accident claimed the life of an employee at the Stellantis Dundee Engine Plant (DEP) in Michigan early Monday morning, April 7, 2025.
Details remain limited, but Stellantis confirmed the fatal incident in a statement. The employee’s identity has not been released out of respect for the family.

According to local police scanner traffic, the employee was reportedly crushed during the incident. However, authorities or the company have not officially confirmed that detail. The nature of the machinery or equipment involved is also unknown at this time.
Stellantis spokeswoman Jodi Tinson provided a statement on behalf of the company:
“Our heartfelt condolences go out to the family, friends and coworkers of a Dundee Engine Plant employee who was involved in a fatal workplace accident this morning. The company is currently working with local authorities to investigate the incident. Out of respect for the family, we are not confirming the identity of the employee at this time. Counseling services will be available for Dundee Engine Plant employees.”
This is the second workplace fatality tied to a Stellantis facility in the region in less than a year. Back in August 2024, 53-year-old Antonio Gaston was killed after he was caught beneath a vehicle on the Jeep® Gladiator (JT) assembly line at the Toledo Assembly Complex in Ohio.
The DEP is currently getting ready to produce a new turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine, which will play an important role with the company’s upcoming hybrid vehicles like the upcoming Jeep® Cherokee (KM). It’s unclear if operations at the plant have been impacted today or if any new safety measures will follow.

Local authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the exact cause and circumstances of the accident. Updates will be provided as more details become available.
Our thoughts are with the victim’s family and coworkers during this difficult time.
