56K-Mile 1998 Dodge Viper GTS GT2 Up For Grabs On BaT

Rare, Iconic Viper On Popular Automotive Auction Website

Few ’90s performance cars wear their motorsports heritage as boldly as the 1998 Dodge Viper GTS GT2 Championship Edition. Built for one model year to celebrate Chrysler’s 1997 FIA GT2 championship and a class win at the 1998 24 Hours of Le Mans, these cars weren’t simple appearance packages—they were factory-built tributes packed with real aerodynamic upgrades and one of the most iconic paint schemes ever to leave Detroit. This particular example, No. 32 of just 100 produced, is now up for grabs on BringATrailer, giving collectors a rare chance to own one of the most desirable modern Mopars ever made.

Wearing Stone White Clearcoat with bold Viper Blue stripes, No. 32 immediately stands out. The GT2 package brought GTS-R badging, a deeper front splitter, ground-effects side skirts, and a big fixed rear wing that made the car as aggressive as the race car that inspired it. This example also features projector headlights, a vented hood, and center-exit exhaust—classic Viper cues that never lost their punch. The front bumper was freshly refinished in late 2025, keeping the car looking sharp despite its 54,000 miles, which is rare mileage for a GT2.

The 18-inch BBS wheels—unique to the GT2—were recently fitted with BFGoodrich g-Force Rival tires, sized 275/35 up front and 335/30 out back. Fresh brake fluid and newly replaced sway bar links round out the mechanical prep. Inside, the cabin sticks to the GT2 formula: black leather buckets with blue inserts, matching trim, adjustable pedals, power windows, and cold A/C. The driver’s bolster shows some wear, expected with real-world use. A period-style Alpine head unit with Bluetooth runs a Quinn audio system. The numbered plaque confirms the car’s identity as No. 32 in the Championship Edition run.

Under that long clamshell hood sits the legendary 8.0-liter (488 cubic-inch) VIPER V10. In GT2 spec, the engine received a low-restriction air cleaner, helping push factory numbers to 460 horsepower and 500 lb-ft of torque—serious performance for the era. A Tremec T-56 6-speed manual and limited-slip differential send power to the rear wheels, delivering the raw, analog driving experience that made the Viper a legend. Photos of No. 32 rolling down Detroit’s Conner Avenue assembly line accompany the sale.

With a clean Carfax through 2018, long-term ownership, and recent maintenance items taken care of, GT2 No. 32 checks all the right boxes for collectors who want rarity with actual history behind it. Bidding on BringATrailer wraps up Monday, December 15 at 1:06 p.m. EDT.
