2027 Jeep® Renegade: Everything We Know So Far

Renegade Will Return: Affordable, Electrified, and Adventure-Ready...

For the past decade, the Jeep® Renegade has been a crucial nameplate in the U.S. market, serving as an entry point into the Jeep lineup for customers seeking a compact, affordable SUV with authentic Jeep DNA. Since its debut in 2015, the Renegade has played a vital role in broadening Jeep’s appeal to urban drivers and younger buyers while maintaining the rugged, off-road capabilities that define the brand.

As Jeep looks towards a more electrified future, the Renegade is set to undergo a transformative redesign for the 2027 model year. To stay relevant in an evolving market, it will embrace all-electric powertrains and affordability.

Here’s everything we know so far about the next-generation 2027 Jeep Renegade.

A New Beginning: Affordable and Electric –

Jeep has confirmed that the 2027 Renegade will be built on Stellantis’ STLA Small platform, a modular architecture designed specifically for smaller electric vehicles (EVs). This shift to an all-electric powertrain aligns with Stellantis’ strategy to electrify its lineup while meeting the growing demand for affordable EVs. With a projected starting price of under $25,000, the Renegade aims to become one of the most budget-friendly electric SUVs in the U.S.

This price point is key to maintaining the Renegade’s appeal to entry-level buyers and strengthening Jeep’s position in the increasingly competitive EV market.

Powertrain Options: Electric and Possibly Hybrid –

One of the most exciting aspects of the 2027 Renegade is its versatility in powertrain offerings, which will cater to a variety of markets and customer needs.

  • Turbocharged ICE Option: Jeep is expected to include a small turbocharged internal combustion engine (ICE) for regions where traditional gasoline powertrains remain popular. This option ensures that the Renegade can compete in markets with developing EV infrastructures.
  • Hybrid Variant: A hybrid powertrain will likely be offered for those seeking efficiency without fully transitioning to electric. This option could pair a compact gasoline engine with electric assist, providing enhanced fuel economy and lower emissions—a key feature for regions like South America and Europe.
  • All-Electric Version: The Renegade’s electric variant is expected to feature a 44 kWh battery, delivering a range of approximately 199 miles (320 km). This model will be particularly important for European markets, where emissions standards are tightening, and for U.S. states following California Air Resource Board (CARB) regulations. The electric motor’s instant torque will improve urban performance and off-road capability, aligning with Jeep’s rugged reputation.

This variety of powertrains will ensure the Renegade remains competitive across a wide range of markets, from those prioritizing affordability to those adopting strict emissions regulations.

Off-Road Capability: Staying True to Jeep DNA –

Even with its shift toward electrification, Jeep is committed to retaining the Renegade’s off-road capability. The ICE, hybrid, and electric models are likely to include advanced features such as all-wheel drive (AWD) and torque vectoring to enhance traction on challenging terrain.

Optional off-road packages (like a Trailhawk 4xe) could also include raised ground clearance, underbody protection, and specialized tires, allowing the Renegade to handle both city streets and trails.

International Continuity and Production –

While the Renegade was discontinued in the U.S. and Canada, it has continued to evolve in South America and Europe, where updates have included new trims, improved technology, and hybrid powertrains. These regions remain crucial for the Renegade’s future, and the 2027 model is expected to build on this momentum.

Production will likely take place in facilities in both regions that are optimized for the STLA Small platform, enabling Jeep to efficiently produce multiple powertrain variants to meet the needs of its diverse markets.

Jeep has yet to reveal full details about the 2027 Renegade, but teasers and previews are anticipated in late 2025. This next-generation model will balance affordability, capability, and cutting-edge technology, appealing to a global audience of Jeep enthusiasts.

For fans of the Renegade, its return represents a new chapter for this beloved compact SUV, reimagined for a future that demands versatility and sustainability.

Many are clamoring about the downturn in Jeep sales, pricing is certainly a factor, but too few site the exit of two important Jeeps, the Renegade and the Cherokee from the marketplace. What, your kidding! Crazy talk ! No Johnny, it really happened. Nothing. Nada, Zilch.
It might be called stupidity, poor decision making or economic restraints but Jeep, at the eco friendly direction of Stellantis, had no replacements set to fill those gaps in the market. Yes Johnny the truth hurts, but the no replacement insanity is real. Ouch !

We have owned our 2018 Jeep Renegade now for over 6 years now and not one issue, we purchased it right before the Pandemic for $18k plus fees, We were bummed when Jeep decided not to bring the updated versions to the US Market then shortly thereafter they decided to discontinue the Renegade after the 2023 MY. I do not like the Compass as it harder to Ingress and egress due to the sloping windshield. Friends who own both the Compass and Cherokee always comment on our Renegade on how much roomier it seems than their Jeeps, even though on paper they are pretty similar. Biggest downfall for any of the CUV from Jeep was their pricing MSRP for our Renegade was $28k and the TrailHawks were damn near in the $40k range that is in Jeep G Cherokee price points let alone the two other smaller offerings. We were also interested in the Jeep Avenger for my Wife commute to work and save the Renegade for longer jaunts but then again in Stellantis wisdom they deemed it too small for the US Market.

Anyone else remember this front page article from last summer?

I know I keep repeating myself, but if Stellantis has any hope of success with small vehicles in North America, the engines and transmissions must be built here, and engineered by our people for our driving conditions, without outside influences. Perhaps with the threat of tariffs looming, the three cylinder Pure Tech, which seems to find its way into all the STLA Small vehicles, could be built in Dundee where its four cylinder brother is scheduled to begin production.
