2026 Jeep® Commander Debuts In South America

Refreshed Design, More Tech, and Lower Prices Keep Jeep’s Seven-Seater SUV On Top

The Jeep® Commander has pulled the covers off its biggest update yet for the 2026 model year in South America. First launched in 2021, the Commander quickly became a leader among seven-seat SUVs in Brazil, selling more than 70,000 units to date. Now, Jeep is giving the locally developed model a fresh design, more high-tech features, and even sharper pricing to keep it competitive in a growing segment.

A New Look With Jeep DNA –

The 2026 Commander gets its most significant styling changes since launch. Up front, new slim LED headlights and a restyled seven-slot grille bring the SUV in line with Jeep’s latest global design cues. A more sculpted bumper adds a tougher stance, while at the rear, a continuous LED taillight strip gives it a modern upscale look. Each trim also gets new wheel designs, up to 19 inches, adding a sportier edge.

Inside: More Refinement And Technology –

Jeep put plenty of focus on elevating the Commander’s interior. The Overland and Blackhawk trims now feature a 360-degree camera system—helpful not just in tight parking lots but also on rough off-road trails. A new rotary gear shifter, replacing the traditional lever, appears on diesel and Hurricane4-powered versions, furthering the premium feel.

The SUV continues to offer three rows of seating for seven passengers, with new material and color accents across trims. A 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster and a 10.1-inch Uconnect 5 infotainment system with Amazon Alexa integration remain standard. Jeep also includes free Wi-Fi hotspot service for 12 months, a feature rare in this segment.

Level 2 Autonomy As Standard –

One of the Commander’s strongest selling points is safety. All trims come standard with Level 2 semi-autonomous driving technologies—the most advanced package available in Brazil. This includes adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot detection, pedestrian/cyclist braking, and even driver fatigue monitoring.

“In a very special year for Jeep in Brazil, in which we completed 10 years of production, bringing all these updates to Commander only demonstrates our commitment to the market and our customers,” said Hugo Domingues, Vice President of Jeep® for South America. “We were able to add even more value to a vehicle that was already a reference in sophistication, performance, and comfort among large SUVs.”

Engines: Gas, Diesel, Or Turbo Hurricane4 –

Buyers continue to have three engine choices, each aimed at different customers:

  • T270 Flex (Gasoline/Ethanol) – 176 horsepower and 199 lb-ft (270 Nm) torque, paired with a 6-speed automatic and front-wheel drive.

  • Multijet 2.2 Diesel – 200 horsepower and 332 lb-ft (450 Nm) torque, with a 9-speed automatic and Jeep’s Active Drive Low 4×4 system.

  • Hurricane4 2.0T – The star of the lineup, producing 272 horsepower and 295 lb-ft (400 Nm) torque, sprinting from 0–62 mph (0–100 km/h) in just 7 seconds.

The diesel and Hurricane4 versions offer true Jeep capability with selectable terrain modes, hill descent control, and Off-Road Pages to monitor performance.

Competitive Pricing With U.S. Conversions –

Perhaps the biggest surprise: Jeep is lowering prices across the board. In Brazil, the new Commander starts at R$ 220,990 (or about $41,000 USD) for the Longitude T270 and tops out at R$ 324,990 (or about $60,000 USD) for the Blackhawk Hurricane4. Price cuts range from R$6,000 (or $1,100 USD) to R$19,000 (or $3,500 USD), depending on the version, making the Commander more competitive than ever in its segment.

Jeep’s Brazilian Success Story –

The Commander holds a special place in Jeep’s portfolio. It was the first Jeep model fully developed and built in Brazil, serving as a showcase for the brand’s design, engineering, and production capabilities in South America. With Jeep celebrating its 10th anniversary of Brazilian production in 2025, this update underscores the brand’s long-term commitment to the market.
