Jeep® India Teases A New Special Edition Model For The Compass!

Indian-Built Compass (M6) Celebrates 5-Year Milestone...

Man does time fly. It’s been five years since the Jeep® brand introduced the Compass to the Indian marketplace. To help celebrate the milestone Jeep India released a teaser of what appears to be a new special 5th Anniversary model for the popular C-SUV.

While the teaser didn’t reveal much about the new model other than the logo, we do know that the Jeep brand continues to expand its Compass offerings with the recent introductions of the Compass Night Eagle and Trailhawk models.

The Compass Night Eagle (also known as the Altitude in North America), comes with several Gloss Black exterior treatments and an all-Black interior to create a sporty, more menacing look for the first-ever Jeep to be assembled in India.

The off-road-oriented Trailhawk model has also made its way into the Indian lineup. This time with standard diesel power under the hood. It continues to be one of the best off-roaders in its class and is the most expensive model in the Indian Compass lineup.

Currently, two powertrains are offered in the Indian-built Compass. A turbocharged 1.4-liter Multiair inline-four-cylinder gasoline engine is available in the front-wheel drive (4×2) models. It can be paired with a 6-speed manual or 7-speed DDCT automatic transmission. The gasoline motor produces 163 horsepower and 184 lb.-ft. (250 N•m) of torque.

For those looking for a four-wheel drive (4×4) or a more efficient 4×2, customers can opt for the turbocharged 2.0-liter Multijet II inline-four-cylinder diesel. The diesel produces 170 horsepower and 258 lb.-ft. (350 N•m) of torque. The diesel is only available with a 6-speed manual transmission in 4×2 configurations, however, it will come standard with a ZF-sourced 9-speed automatic transmission.

Judging by the lineup at hand, we wouldn’t be surprised if the Indian market would introduce an equivalent to the U.S. Compass High Altitude. The luxury model would be the perfect fit for the Indian market to celebrate the milestone.

Based on the Compass Limited in the U.S. (S in the Indian market), the High Altitude package adds distinct Neutral Grey and Gloss Black exterior appearance details, a Black roof, body-color painted front and rear lower fascias and painted side flares, a full suite of premium LED lighting (automatic high-beam projector LED headlamps, fog lamps, taillamps) and 19-inch Satin Granite Crystal aluminum wheels.

Inside, the High Altitude adds leather seats in Black with Tungsten accent stitching and Piano Black interior accents, a Black headliner, a reversible cargo mat, a premium 9-speaker Alpine audio system, dual-pane panoramic sunroof, 10.25-in. TFT color cluster and 10.1-inch Uconnect 5 touchscreen with navigation.

We expect the new Indian-exclusive Compass 5th Anniversary Edition to make an appearance by the end of Q3 2022.
