About a month ago, we broke the news that the Ram Truck brand was bringing back the controversial second-generation 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6 that was recently recertified to meet U.S. emissions standards in its 2019 Ram 1500 Classic pickups. But that wasn’t the only thing Ram Trucks was bringing back to the market, instead, the engine would be debut in the return of the Laramie trim on the 2019 Ram 1500 Classic.
While Ram Trucks has continued to sell its 2019 Ram 1500 Classic pickups outside the North American market with the Laramie trim, the trim was discontinued and the Big Horn became the highest trim level one could purchase on the U.S. market. But instead of just reintroducing the 2018 Ram 1500 (DS) Laramie, the truck has been updated with some interesting touches for the 2019 model year.
The 2019 Ram 1500 Classic Laramie includes the following…
- Dual-Zone Automatic Temperature Controls
- Leather Heated and Ventilated 40/20/40 Bench Seat
- Deluxe Door Trim Panels
- Power Adjustable Pedals
- Bi-Functional Projector Headlamps
- Premium LED Tail Lamps
- Chrome “R-A-M” Grille with Snorkels (from the 2018 Ram 1500 Limited)
- Chrome Exterior Accents
- 8.4-inch Uconnect 4C Touchscreen Display
- 20-Inch Forged Multi-Surface Aluminum Wheels (from the 2018 Ram 1500 Limited)
When it comes to the second-generation 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6, it still retains its 240 horsepower and 420 lb.-ft of torque from the 2018 model year. The only transmission choice is the ZF-sourced 8-speed automatic transmission which gives the truck a 27 mpg rating on the highway.
With trucks already showing up on dealer lots, like the one shown here from our friends at University Dodge in Davie, Florida, Ram Trucks offers a budget-minded option to undercut options from Chevrolet, GMC, and Ford. The 2019 Ram 1500 Classic EcoDiesel arrives just before the all-new third-generation 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6 that offers more horsepower and torque with better fuel economy under the hood the 2020 Ram 1500.
With incentives, the 2019 Ram 1500 Classic Laramie EcoDiesel will offer the most affordable way to get in yourself into a half-ton diesel truck. The 2019 Ram 1500 Classic Laramie EcoDiesel will start at the following prices for the U.S. market before the destination charge…
- Crew Cab 5-foot, 7-inch bed 4×2 – $44,900 USD
- Crew Cab 5-foot, 7-inch bed 4×4 – $48,900
- Crew Cab 6-foot, 4-inch bed 4×2 – $45,600
- Crew Cab 6-foot, 4-inch bed 4×4 – $49,500
This also undercuts the Silverado LTZ Crew Cab 4×4 with the Duramax I-6 ($51,495) and F-150 Lariat Super Crew 4×4 and its PowerStroke V6 ($52,130) offerings for the 2019 model year. This does not include the huge discounts that Ram is running right now on its 2019 Ram 1500 Classic models right now.
