More Vehicles Stolen From Jefferson North Assembly Plant:

Several Dodge Charger SRT HELLCATs Stolen, Two In Custody...

Well it’s happened again. Another theft from the car holding lot at the Jefferson North Assembly Plant (JNAP) in Detroit, Michigan. The Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) Jefferson North Assembly Plant is the production home of the popular Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango sport-utilities. It is also a holding lot for many cars, such as the popular Dodge Charger, Dodge Challenger, Chrysler Pacifica, Dodge Grand Caravan and Chrysler 300 (vehicles assembled in Canada and come across the border only a few miles away at Detroit/Windsor border and wait to be shipped to dealers).

In August, we told you about six Dodge Durango SRT models that were stolen from the lot at JNAP days after another theft that included four Dodge Charger models.

Wednesday, the lot was targeted again with a smash-and-grab tactics as a Jeep Cherokee and three Dodge Charger SRT HELLCATs were stolen from the lot. Using the same method that was used during the Durango heist, thieves used a fifth vehicle to smash through the fence before bailing out of that vehicle and getting away.

Early this morning, police were called to the lot for another smash-and-grab incident. Detroit Police say that thieves were trying to steal more Chrysler, Jeep and Ram vehicles from the Conner and Kercheval lot again this morning. Police did catch two juveniles at the storage lot during the crime.

One of the vehicles that made it off the lot crashed just down the road at East Jefferson Avenue and Conner Avenue. However, that person got away.

Police have recovered eight of the stolen vehicles, thus far.

FCA wrote this statement to the press, shortly after the Wednesday incident…

“FCA US is working with the Detroit Police Department regarding the theft of several vehicles from a shipping yard managed by a third party near the Jefferson North Assembly Plant. As this is an open investigation, the Company is not commenting any further on what vehicles were stolen or how they were stolen.”

The JNAP facility isn’t the only plant that has been hit this year. We also told you about several Ram 1500 pickups that were stolen from the Warren Truck Assembly Plant in the Detroit suburb of Warren, Michigan. Police did end up recovering most of the vehicles, although no one has been charged for that incident.
