his 1968 Plymouth Barracuda fastback is a textbook example of how to turn a humble compact into a fire-breathing muscle car. Now listed on BringATrailer.com, it blends original Mopar style with modern upgrades and legendary HEMI® power.

From the factory, this Barracuda came finished in Sunfire Yellow (SS1) and carried a modest 3.7-liter (225 cubic-inch) Slant-6. That all changed around 2020 when Kim’s Auto Service of Daytona Beach, Florida, transformed it into the beast you see today. Under the fiberglass hood now sits a 7.0-liter (426 cubic-inch) HEMI V8 with a cross-ram intake manifold and dual Edelbrock four-barrel carburetors. Power flows through a TorqueFlite A727 three-speed automatic paired with a Gear Vendors overdrive and into a Dana 60 rear end with 4.56:1 gears and a limited-slip differential.
The suspension and chassis were upgraded to keep up with the HEMI. A Reilly MotorSports AlterKtion front assembly with rack-and-pinion steering and adjustable coilovers sharpens handling, while Wilwood disc brakes at all four corners provide serious stopping power. Polished Keystone 15-inch wheels wrapped in Mickey Thompson Sportsman S/R tires give it both the stance and the traction it deserves.

Inside, the Barracuda leans more toward race car than grocery-getter. The rear seat has been removed in favor of a roll cage, while black vinyl bucket seats are fitted with Simpson harnesses. A Hurst ratchet shifter handles gear changes, Vintage Air climate control keeps the cabin comfortable, and Sunpro auxiliary gauges complement the stock dash. A column-mounted tach rounds out the driver-focused setup.
The exterior now wears glossy black paint with exposed hood locks, round marker lights, and bold “426 HEMI” callouts on the hood scoop. Details such as the gold Pentastar badge and wood-grain interior trim nod to its Mopar heritage.

Since completion, the odometer shows 2,800 miles, with just 150 miles added under current ownership after being purchased in April 2025. Included with the sale are ladder bars, a trickle charger, and an Optima Yellow Top battery mounted in the trunk.
For collectors and enthusiasts alike, this Barracuda represents the perfect marriage of classic Plymouth styling and HEMI muscle. Bidding on BringATrailer ends Wednesday, September 24, at 4:21 p.m. EDT.
