First Units Are For Internal Quality Control Use...

Well, a little over 14 years of teasing the public with the debut of the 2005 Jeep® Gladiator Concept, the Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) Toledo South Assembly Plant has started production of the all-new 2020 Jeep® Gladiator. A few weeks ago, we noticed on FCA US and FCA Canada there were sales numbers already accounted for the highly anticipated Jeep pickup. But according to FCA, those vehicles were sold to FCA employees

United Auto Workers (UAW) employees from the Toledo South Assembly Plant gathered at the end of the assembly line yesterday, to watch the first official truck be completed. The very first 2020 Jeep Gladiator, was a Billet Silver Rubicon model featuring a black hardtop.

According to FCA, the vehicles that started rolling off the assembly line on Monday, March 18th, are being used internally for quality control purposes. FCA released this official statement to us…

On Monday, March 18, the Toledo Assembly Complex began building Jeep Gladiators that are marked for internal company use. This is a normal part of the launch cadence of any new vehicle in order to verify build quality before volume production begins. Production of customer vehicles has not yet started. We know there is a lot of excitement surrounding the launch of the new Gladiator, but our first priority is to ensure that we are building the highest quality vehicles our customers demand. We will launch when we know we can meet those expectations. – FCA US

Pricing for the all-new 2020 Jeep Gladiator has yet to be officially announced. In an earlier post, we showed you official dealer materials from Jeep stating that not all dealers would be getting Gladiator models in their inventory after launch. So for the first series of production models, dealers that only meet Jeep’s requirements will be able to stock the all-new pickup.
