For the past 6-years, fans of the Chrysler brand have been asking management to put the supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI HELLCAT V8 under the hood of the large four-door sedan. Sharing its architecture with the four-door Dodge Charger, the proposition seemed like a no-brainer. But for some reason, the Chrysler 300 has gone untouched.
So it’s no surprise that some fans have given up on waiting and build their own HELLCAT-powered Chrysler 300 sedans. But there is one YouTuber (Khal_SRT) who wasn’t satisfied with just a 707 horsepower supercharged HEMI under his hood. Instead, he stuffed in the 7.0-liter (426 cubic-inch) HEMI HELLEPHANT V8 instead. The HELLEPHANT produces a whopping 1,000 horsepower and 950 lb.-ft. of torque.
The limited-production crate engine has a price tag of $29,995 USD before taxes and comes complete with a water pump, flywheel, front sump oil pan, supercharger with throttle body, fuel injectors, and coil packs.
While the car still needs to be fine-tuned, Khal_SRT had to do some “light” highway pulls to get data for the tuner. Nevertheless, we get a chance to see the HELLEPHANT-powered 300 stretch its legs a bit, and man does it sound great.
With the Chrysler 300 coming to an end in 2023, it is a shame that Chrysler doesn’t have any plans like this for its final run.
