Since we posted our article about the new Mopar “Ram Airflow” cold-air intake system, we have received a lot of questions from readers and forum members asking when is it going to be available to purchase. We have finally gotten some information back from our friends at Mopar, that maybe help answer your questions.
The “Ram Airflow” cold-air intake system was first shown off in February 2018, on the Mopar-Modified 2019 Ram 1500 Big Horn Sport 4×4 at the 2018 Chicago Auto Show. Since then, Mopar has teased us over and over again with the system in multiple concept trucks and now we know an official time period of release and why it has been held up.
The reason behind the delay has been an issue with getting the system certified by the California Air Resources Board (CARB). Since CARB has not officially approved the system, it will not be available in the State of California until it is approved. Thanks, regulations! However, Mopar is still in talks with CARB and trying to get the system to pass their standards. As for the rest of the 49 states and Canada, non-CARB complaint units will be available at the end of the calendar year.
The official price for the system, $925 U.S. MSRP, which is a lot of money for a cold-air intake. However, it was designed by the same engineering team that developed the Ram 1500 and does not void any warranties on the truck, since it is from Mopar.
