TSR Nitro Teams Gear Up For Second Weekend Of 4-Wide Racing
Stewart Currently Sits Sixth In Funny Car Points...
Tony Stewart Racing (TSR) is revving its engines as it prepares for the 2024 NHRA Four-Wide Nationals at zMAX Dragway in Charlotte, North Carolina. Scheduled for this weekend, this electrifying event promises high-octane action for drag racing fans.
This year’s NHRA Four-Wide Nationals marks the fifth stop on the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series’ 20-race calendar. TSR brings its A-game with two full-time entries: one featuring Top Fuel rookie Tony Stewart and the other showcasing four-time Funny Car champion Matt Hagan. Both drivers have shown impressive form, with Stewart coming in sixth in the Top Fuel standings and Hagan sitting fourth in the Funny Car standings.
With his extensive racing background, Stewart expresses confidence following his strong performance at the previous Four-Wide Nationals event in Las Vegas. He notes, “It definitely gives me a bunch of confidence… after the way we ran in Vegas to come to Charlotte and build off of that momentum.”
For Hagan, the four-wide format presents its challenges, but he remains determined, stating, “The four-wides are still the four-wides… They’re always interesting and always a show for the fans, which is all that matters.”
Not only is the event a chance for racing excellence, but it’s also a family affair for TSR. The occasion holds special significance with Stewart-Haas Racing (SHR), the NASCAR team co-owned by Tony Stewart, just nine miles north of the track. Stewart looks forward to sharing his new journey in motorsports with his NASCAR team members, stating, “I’m excited to let them see my new journey in motorsports… I’m excited that they will get a chance to see us run a car at 300 miles per hour now.”
Hagan, whose family dealership, Shelor Motor Mile, will have guests in attendance, is equally excited about having friends and family at the track. He comments, “It’s good to have a lot of friends and family out at the track… It gets you pumped up to go rounds.”
The NHRA Four-Wide Nationals will be televised on FS1 for fans eager to catch the action. The qualifying show will air on Sunday, April 28th, at 11 a.m. EDT, followed by the finals at 6 p.m. EDT.
