TSR Nitro Teams Gear Up For NHRA Winternationals This Weekend

Tony Stewart Racing (TSR) is revving up for the 64th Annual NHRA Lucas Oil Winternationals, set to take place at the iconic In-N-Out Burger Pomona Dragstrip from March 22 to March 24. The team brings in two powerhouse drivers: Tony Stewart, making his second Top Fuel start, and Matt Hagan, a seasoned veteran in the Funny Car category.

Tony Stewart & Top Fuel Excitement –

Tony Stewart, known for his illustrious career in NASCAR, is no stranger to the world of motorsports. With one Top Fuel weekend already under his belt, Stewart is gearing up for Pomona with a determined mindset. He reflects on his debut, expressing relief that the first qualifying session and round nerves are behind him. “I definitely feel better going into Pomona after getting through Gainesville,” Stewart stated. “I feel like I’ll be able to show up and just get to work instead of worrying about the pomp and circumstance of that opening round and qualifying session.”

Moreover, Stewart is thrilled to represent Mobil 1, a longtime partner, especially as they celebrate their 50th anniversary. The black and gold scheme adorning Stewart’s Top Fuel dragster pays homage to Mobil 1’s legacy. “I can’t express how excited I am to run the black and gold 50th Anniversary scheme for Mobil 1,” Stewart remarked. “It is a huge honor because I’m very passionate about Mobil 1. They’ve been a great partner since we got together in 2011 at Stewart-Haas Racing.”

Matt Hagan & Funny Car Dominance –

Matt Hagan, the defending event winner at Pomona, is eyeing his fifth Wally from the Winternationals. With a stellar track record at Pomona, including three No. 1 qualifiers and four career wins, Hagan is poised for success. Reflecting on his performance at Gainesville, Hagan remains optimistic about the upcoming event. “We’re coming off of Gainesville, where we thought we could have won three races in a row,” Hagan said. “But at the end of the day, we have to stay positive.”

Hagan also emphasizes the significance of Johnson’s Horsepowered Garage’s partnership, returning to sponsor his Dodge//SRT Hellcat Funny Car. “To have Johnson’s Horsepowered Garage and Jason (Johnson) in Pomona is big,” Hagan noted. “They’re really great people that have become family. If we can get a win, I want to get one for them very soon.”

Event Schedule –

The NHRA Winternationals will feature three days of exhilarating action:

• Friday, March 22: Nitro qualifying session (Q1) at 5 p.m. PDT/8 p.m. EDT.
• Saturday, March 23: Top Fuel and Funny Car qualifying sessions (Q2 & Q3), along with the Mission #2Fast2Tasty Challenge rounds starting at 12 p.m. PDT/3 p.m. EDT.
• Sunday, March 24: Nitro Eliminations with Round 1 kicking off at 11 a.m. PDT/2 p.m. EDT, leading up to the Finals at 4:15 p.m. PDT/7:15 p.m. EDT.

TV coverage will be available on FS1, with qualifying and final shows scheduled throughout the weekend.

As TSR Nitro gears up for the NHRA Winternationals, all eyes will be on Tony Stewart and Matt Hagan, who aim for victory on the dragstrip at Pomona.
