The Jeep® Wagoneer S Looks Like A Great All-Around Package

The Wagoneer S Looks Like a Better Value Than the Charger Daytona...

I had a chance to get my first good look at the Jeep® Wagoneer S Launch Edition at the 2025 Detroit Auto Show yesterday. While many people are on the fence about electric vehicles (EVs), this latest Jeep blends luxury and capability in a practical D-segment package. With a range of over 300 miles per charge, 600 horsepower on tap, and a 0 to 60 mph time of 3.4 seconds, the Wagoneer S is set to turn heads.

Exterior Design –

The exterior of the Wagoneer S combines Jeep’s rugged DNA with a touch of modern luxury. Its sleek, aerodynamic shape is highlighted by the iconic seven-slot grille, now accented with LED lighting for a contemporary twist. The sculpted hood and sharp body lines give the Wagoneer S an athletic, commanding presence on the road.

The floating roof design, paired with large alloy wheels, adds sophistication while improving aerodynamics. At the back, the full-width LED taillight bar and integrated rear wing not only enhance the vehicle’s design but also contribute to its overall performance.

Interior Features –

Inside the 2025 Wagoneer S, luxury seamlessly blends with practicality. The cabin features premium leather upholstery, top-tier technology, and spacious seating for all passengers. A 12.3-inch vertically oriented touchscreen, paired with a 10.25-inch customizable digital instrument cluster, keeps the driver fully connected to the vehicle’s functions. The Uconnect 5 system offers smooth, intuitive control, with features like wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ ensuring connectivity.

For passengers, the Wagoneer S delivers an 11.6-inch touchscreen, rear-seat displays, and a high-quality sound system to keep everyone entertained. The interior is packed with luxury features, including seats with massage functions, climate-controlled seating, and customizable ambient lighting. It’s not all about luxury, though—practicality is front and center with ample cargo space and a convenient hands-free liftgate for effortless loading.

Powertrain and Performance –

The Wagoneer S is powered by a dual-motor electric drive system, delivering an impressive 600 horsepower. With the help of a 100.5 kWh battery, this setup allows the Wagoneer S to rocket from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.4 seconds. Even more impressive is its estimated driving range of over 300 miles on a single charge, making it a solid choice for long trips without worrying about running low on power.

As expected from Jeep, the Wagoneer S doesn’t just excel in performance—it’s built for adventure. The vehicle maintains its renowned off-road capabilities, enhanced by a regenerative braking system that recaptures energy to improve overall efficiency.

The Wagoneer S also comes equipped with Jeep’s Selec-Terrain® system, allowing drivers to select from multiple driving modes (Auto, Sport, Mud/Sand, Rock, and Snow) to optimize performance based on the terrain. This feature enhances the vehicle’s off-road versatility, enabling it to tackle various conditions with ease.

Cargo Space and Practicality

The Wagoneer S isn’t just about performance and luxury; it’s also built with practicality in mind. Plenty of cargo space makes it perfect for hauling gear or luggage for long trips. The hands-free liftgate makes loading and unloading a breeze, and with the rear seats folding flat, you can easily fit larger items. Plus, it features a front trunk, or “frunk,” providing even more storage space for smaller items you want to keep out of the cabin.

Safety and Advanced Features –

The Wagoneer S has a full range of safety and driver-assist features, including adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, automated emergency braking, and blind-spot monitoring, keeping everyone on board safe. It also offers advanced collision detection and parking sensors, making it easier to navigate through tight spaces and ensuring peace of mind wherever you go.

Wagoneer S vs. Charger Daytona –

The 2025 Wagoneer S and Dodge Charger Daytona are both built on the same STLA Large platform and share a 100.5 kWh battery, but they deliver very different driving experiences. The Wagoneer S focuses on offering a spacious, family-friendly ride with luxury and practicality, while the Charger Daytona leans heavily into performance.

Starting at around $72,000, this new Jeep offers great value for its luxury, performance, and versatility. With 600 horsepower, over 300 miles of range, and ample space, it stands out in the luxury electric SUV market. The Dodge Charger Daytona Scat Pack, which tops out at about $85,000, is more performance-focused but offers less range and less practicality.

It might seem surprising to compare the two. Still, it stands out as a much better value than the Charger Daytona when you look at the price, the amount of equipment, power, range, and overall practicality.

Overall –

I was impressed with the new Wagoneer S. As an EV skeptic, it piqued my curiosity. The dimensions, range, performance numbers, and extensive features make it seem much more well-rounded. I can’t wait to get my hands on it for a long-term review.

Hopefully the Jeep Engineers have worked out a lot of the software glitches and issues by the time it goes on sale. If not it will be a flop and Stellantis cannot afford to have 2 EV in a row be sales flops.
