Stellantis Future Product For U.S. Shown In UAW Agreement

New Durango Planned, Gladiator 4xe In 2025, and All-Electric Wrangler In 2027...

While the United Auto Workers (UAW) are celebrating their record tentative agreement with Stellantis, it has allowed us to see the future intentions of Stellantis (FCA US, LLC) operations in the United States until 2028. This allows us to see a timeline of future products and the plants, as well as the mid-cycle action (MCA) or “refreshes” for existing products. So, we thought we would take a deep dive into it all.

Belvidere Assembly Plant –

Belvidere Assembly Plant. (Stellantis).

Belvidere will get a $1.5 billion investment to launch all-new midsize trucks in 2027, with an annual projection of 80,000 to 100,000 units. So yes, the production of these trucks is still a long time out. But what makes us curious is the plan for the plant states trucks as plural. So, could there be more than just one midsize truck in the lineup other than the Ram brand? We don’t know.

Detroit Assembly Complex (Mack and Jefferson) –

Detroit Assembly Complex – Mack Facility. (Stellantis).

The facilities will split a $1.5 billion investment to continue to build the popular Jeep® Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango vehicles. This includes their replacements.

  • The current Dodge Durango (WD) will continue production through 2025 in its current state.
  • An all-new Dodge Durango (D6U) will start production in 2026 and offer both internal combustion engine (ICE) and battery-electric (BEV) options.
  • The current Jeep Grand Cherokee (WL74) two-row will continue through 2027, while the (WL75) three-row will continue through 2028. Both vehicles will receive a MCA in 2024 for the 2025 model year.
  • The next-generation Grand Cherokee (J6U) will include ICE and BEV variants and will launch in 2027.

Toledo Assembly Complex (North and South) –

Toledo Assembly Complex – North. (Stellantis).

Stellantis will invest an additional $1.5 billion into its Toledo Assembly operations. The agreement states the following…

  • Both the current Wrangler (JL) and Gladiator (JT) will continue into 2028
  • MCA for Gladiator is happening now.
  • Wrangler PHEV 4xe Upgrade is scheduled for 2025, as is the new Gladiator PHEV 4xe.
  • Next-Gen Wrangler (J70) will launch in 2028, with both BEV and Range Electric Paradigm Breaker (REPB). The REPB will use an ICE as a generator instead of powering the wheels, allowing the battery to be recharged on the go, extending range according to our sources.

Warren Truck Assembly Plant –

Warren Truck Assembly Plant. (Stellantis).

Stellantis will invest $600 million into its Warren Truck operations for current and future products. This includes…

  • A Wagoneer/Grand Wagoneer REPB variant will start production in 2025
  • A Wagoneer/Grand Wagoneer BEV variant will start production in 2027

Sterling Heights Assembly Plant –

Sterling Heights Assembly Plant. (Stellantis).

The automakers plan to invest an additional $1.4 billion into its most profitable plant, Sterling Heights Assembly Plant. The 5 million square foot facility is home to the Ram 1500 (DT) pickup.

  • The current Ram 1500 (DT) will continue production through the 2024 model year.
  • A MCA for the Ram 1500 will happen in 2024.

Mopar Hubs –

According to the agreement, Mopar will consolidate its Product Distribution Centers (PDCs) into new hubs. This means some Mopar PDCs will be closed, and operations will move to six new Hubs. The UAW says while Stellantis will complete some of the facilities, the union got the elimination of the lower wage tier at Mopar, a guarantee of job security, and the right to bargain for an expanded moving allowance beyond the $37,500 they already won.

Body code document is floating around the internet if one looks.... Needs updated with Belvedere.... honestly I think they were going to shutter it, Seems that Mid-size truck may have saved it, along with UAW ending at a more reasonable spot.

Here's a crazy thought. What if the Belvedere bound "midsize trucks" (plural), are an American sized version of the Ram 700/ ProMaster Rapid platform mates marketed throughout Latin America. The ProMaster City is gone here, as well as all of its competitors. I doubt all the commercial and fleet customers will want to simply pony up to the full-size Ram ProMaster petrol or electric vans. A lot of commercial and fleet buyers would be interested in a smaller van with the Pacifica's plugin hybrid system as an option.
