Meet Our New Long-Term Dodge Challenger Scat Pack 392 Shaker:

Yes, You Can Buy A 485 Horsepower Muscle Car On A Budget...

A lot of our readers were upset with us when we got rid of our 2019 Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack 1320 only after a few months of ownership. Co-Editor Jared Balfour absolutely loved the two-door drag-oriented muscle car, but once he got bitten by the speed bug the 485 horsepower wasn’t enough. We looked into the cost of building up the 1320’s 6.4-liter HEMI V8 and with what it would have costed to do so, our long-term 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk came around at the perfect time to replace our 1320.

While we have a pretty good portfolio of long-term vehicles in the MoparInsiders fleet, some of which include our 2019 Ram 1500 Laramie Sport, 2016 Dodge Charger SRT392, and 2014 Dodge Charger R/T Plus AWD Sport; we were still missing a two-door Challenger from the lineup. Enter our new long-term 2015 Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack Shaker.

With a budget of $35,000 USD, we were on the hunt for a low-mile Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack or TA 392 to add to the fleet. We searched high and low, before finding the perfect car in the Metro Detroit area. The White Knuckle colored Challenger was well maintained and traded into a local dealer for another Dodge vehicle. While we weren’t particularly looking for a Shaker model, this car fit all of our criteria. We wanted a car that was pretty loaded. While this car is only missing the optional 900-watt Harman Kardon sound system, factory spare tire, and the factory sunroof, it wasn’t enough to keep us from purchasing the car.

With only 4,200 miles on the odometer and an asking price of just over $30,000, we were able to grab the car for $29,995. Not a bad deal, considering the number of options on the car, the low mileage, and the condition of the car. It goes to show those who are out there looking for a 485 horsepower Dodge muscle car for a reasonable price and in almost new condition, it can be done.

We plan on taking the car out to several events this year around the Metro Detroit area. We aren’t going to go crazy modifying the car either, but instead, it will be a good daily and weekend warrior car for us to have some fun with.

So what would you like to see happen to our new long-term 2015 Dodge Challenger Scat Pack 392 Shaker? Leave your comments below, we would love to hear them.
