There hasn’t been a lot of exciting news surrounding the upcoming 2021 Dodge Durango, due to the ongoing COVID-19 (or Coronavirus) pandemic. While Dodge//SRT has yet to show off its updated new three-row performance SUV, we have seen several of the upcoming prototypes on the road before the pandemic started. Even though prototypes haven’t been roaming the streets of Metro Detroit in some time, we are hearing from some of our sources that some of the Dodge//SRT engineering teams have taken the vehicles to their homes and have even worked in their own garages, ensuring that the new 2021 Dodge Durango lineup will launch this fall.
With most of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) vehicle programs pushed back three months, our sources within FCA are saying that the 2021 Dodge Durango will be one of the company’s top priorities to get to market. According to the sources that are indicating that the production of the 2021 Dodge Durango could start on Monday, October 5th, 2020 at the Jefferson North Assembly Plant (JNAP). We are also hearing that dealer ordering could open Thursday, August 6th, 2020.
While the dates have yet to be confirmed by FCA, this means that the upcoming 2021 Dodge Durango should make its official debut soon. As events over the summer are already being canceled, we wouldn’t be surprised if Dodge//SRT doesn’t do a Livestream event of the launch on social media similar to what the FIAT brand did for the launch of the 2021 Fiat 500.
The updated 2021 Dodge Durango models will feature a wide array of updates for the new model year. The latest Durango will include new front end styling, a completely redesigned interior, updated choices of powertrains ranging from a Pentastar V6 with eTorque to a 707 horsepower supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI HELLCAT V8, as well as new technology, including the all-new 10.1-inch Uconnect touchscreen infotainment system.
