Alfa Romeo’s First Fully-Electric SUV Will Wear The Brenner Nameplate!

New Subcompact SUV To Join Lineup In 2024 MY...

After the introduction of its newest vehicle the all-new Alfa Romeo Tonale, the Italian marque won’t be wasting time with the launch of the brand’s first fully-electric vehicle in 2023. The first fully-electric Alfa Romeo will be a subcompact SUV sharing much of its design with the recently unveiled Jeep® SUV shown during the Stellantis “Drive Forward 2030” strategic plan presentation.

Internally known as the Alfa “Kid” project, the new subcompact SUV will wear the Brenner nameplate when it arrives in dealers next year. The Brenner will be manufactured alongside the new Jeep SUV and a new Fiat 500 5-door at the Stellantis assembly plant in Tychy, Poland. Making it the first Alfa Romeo product to be produced abroad.

Since the new STLA Small architecture won’t be ready until 2026, the new Alfa Romeo will be set on an updated eCMP architecture from the PSA side of Stellantis.

The eCMP platform currently is equipped with a single 136 horsepower Continental-sourced electric unit on the front axle and 50 kWh batteries from Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited (CATL). But for the updated version of the eCMP architecture, the updated version should use Nidec-PSA engines, Automotive Cell Company (ACC) batteries, and offer the capability of all-wheel-drive (AWD). However, our sources say that the Brenner should stick solely to front-wheel-drive (FWD).

It is expected that the Tychy plant will produce 100,000 units of the Brenner annually.

Now while the Brenner will be the first fully-electric Alfa Romeo offered to the public, it will not be an exclusive electrified model. Instead, Alfa Romeo will launch both an internal combustion engine (ICE) and mild-hybrid (mHEV) variants of the subcompact SUV as well. As far as the ICE offering, it should be offered in both diesel and gasoline configurations.

The images posted above are by a talented digital artist named Masera. He created the designs using the recently released images of the upcoming electrified Jeep subcompact.

The Brenner will be launched sometime in late-2023, as a 2024 model.
