SPIED: 2020 Jeep Gladiator Sport Caught On Public Roads:

Base Trim Level Of Production-Spec Wrangler Truck Caught...

In the past few months, we have talked in-depth a couple of times about the upcoming Jeep Wrangler Truck or (JT) as it is codenamed. As we said before, we aren’t calling the Jeep Scrambler just yet as nothing official has been released yet about the upcoming Jeep mid-size reviving the original Jeep CJ-8 Scrambler name. (We have confirmed since the publication of this article, the truck will carry the Gladiator nameplate).

But our friends at Real Fast Fotography have brought us these first images of the base model Jeep (JT) pickup. So far we have seen a number of (JT) prototypes, including the spy photos we brought you recently of the new production-spec Jeep (JT) that was caught on the streets of Metro Detroit. Now for the first time, we get to see a production-spec “base” model of the highly-anticipated new Jeep.

Like the Jeep Wrangler Sport, this (JT) prototype wears standard halogen headlamps and turn signals. What really sets this prototype apart from ones we have seen in the past is the 17-inch steel wheels that are wrapped with Bridgestone Dualer tires.

Originally, we expected the Jeep pickup to only come in premium trim levels, likely Sahara, Rubicon, and special editions. This would have allowed Jeep to price it at a premium to other midsize pickup competitors; however, leaked documents from FCA showed that the (JT) will have a base and premium trim models. It also showed that the base trim with the 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 engine with get a 3.45 axle ratio. Premium trim models equipped with the 3.6-liter get 4.10 axle ratio and both trim levels for the 3.0-liter EcoDiesel get a standard 3.73 axle ratio. Max Trailer weight is rated at 6,500lbs. That’s 3000lbs more than the Wrangler (JL) and on par with other midsize pickups.
