FCA US Announces April Sales Results:

FCA will also start reporting sales quarterly in the third quarter of this year

This morning FCA US announced their April Sales results. The Ram Brand had another record month with sales up 25% compared to April 2018, moving 53,811 units compared to 43,074 last April. Ram pickups had their second consecutive record sales month up significantly compared to last April with 49,106 Ram trucks sold compared to 39,252 in April 2018, a gain of 25%. The Ram ProMaster Van was up 35% with 3,805 sold last month compared to 2,817 last April. ProMaster City sales were down 10% with 900 sold last month compared to 1,005 in the same period of last year.

Other bright spots in FCAs U.S lineup were the Jeep Compass and Jeep Grand Cherokee both with record April sales. Compass was up 10% with 12,697 units sold compared to 11,521 in the same period last year while the Grand Cherokee surged for the second month in a row with 20,469 sales compared to 16,647 in April of last year for a gain of 23%. The Jeep Gladiator landed on dealer lots late in April and managed to rack up 314 sales before the end of the month, ours being one of them.  Among other Jeep models, the Wrangler was down 25%, Cherokee was down 13% and the Renegade was down 26%.

The Chrysler Brand was hit the hardest in April down 37% overall compared to April of 2018. Chrysler 300 sales were down by 49% and Pacifica was down 31%.

Over at Dodge the Durango was up 25% last month while sales of the Charger were down 8%, Challenger was down 25%, Journey was down 39% and the Grand Caravan was down 37%.

2019 Fiat 124 Spider Abarth. (MoparInsiders).

FIAT was down across the board in April with the 500 down 195, 500L down 57%, 500X down 54% and the FIAT Spider fared the best down 2% compared to April 2018.

2020 Alfa Romeo 4C Spider Italia. (Alfa Romeo).

Over at Alfa Romeo the 4C sold 27 units compared to 22 in April of last year, a gain of 23%, the Stelvio was up 16% while Giulia sales fell 34%.

Moving to a quarterly sales report:

FCA has also announced that following industry trends they will start reporting sales quarterly starting in the third quarter of this year. We will still see May and June monthly sales reports but then won’t see another until October 1st which will cover the whole third quarter. This follows in the steps of Ford and General Motors that have already moved to quarterly reporting. 

“A quarterly sales reporting cadence will continue to provide transparency of our sales results while at the same time aligning with where industry practice is heading,” said Niel Golightly, FCA’s Chief Communications Officer.
