Stellantis North America COO Prioritizes U.S. Market for 2025

A Renewed Commitment to the U.S. Market...

Antonio Filosa, Stellantis’ Chief Operating Officer (COO) for North America, has announced that the automaker’s primary focus in 2025 will be strengthening its position in the U.S. retail market. After a challenging 2024 marked by declining sales, inventory concerns, and leadership changes, Filosa is determined to reset the company’s trajectory and rebuild its relationships with key stakeholders.

Filosa emphasized the importance of the U.S. market to Stellantis, calling it the company’s top priority. “To us, the U.S. is the biggest market Stellantis has the privilege to operate in,” he said during a media day at the Detroit Auto Show. His strategy includes a focus on understanding the needs of U.S. consumers and aligning the company’s product offerings with those preferences.

Key to this strategy is the reintegration of experienced leadership, including the return of Tim Kuniskis, who will spearhead efforts to revitalize the Ram brand. Filosa is also prioritizing open communication with dealers and suppliers, acknowledging that strained relationships in the past have created challenges.

Addressing Dealer Concerns and Inventories –

Filosa’s efforts to strengthen ties with dealers will include attending the National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA) Show in New Orleans later this month. He has already begun meeting with dealers across the country, addressing concerns and seeking input to improve collaboration.

On the inventory front, Stellantis has made progress. The company reduced vehicle inventories from nearly half a million units mid-2024 to a healthier level of approximately 300,000 units at the start of 2025. This adjustment positions the automaker to better meet market demand while avoiding overstocked lots.

New Products and Production Goals –

Stellantis plans to drive growth in 2025 with an array of new and updated vehicles. A replacement for the Jeep Cherokee is on the horizon, alongside other highly anticipated models such as the Ram 1500 Ramcharger extended-range pickup, Dodge Charger Daytona, and Jeep® Wagoneer S. Filosa believes these new offerings will energize the market and boost production at Stellantis plants.

Filosa has also engaged in productive discussions with United Auto Workers (UAW) leadership. By aligning with union goals, Stellantis aims to maximize plant output and maintain strong labor relations. “I believe there is common ground to work well together,” Filosa said, expressing optimism about the potential for increased production and sales.

Filosa describes 2025 as a year of resetting and refocusing for Stellantis. Rebuilding trust with partners, addressing inventory challenges, and introducing competitive products are central to the company’s strategy. The COO highlighted that the ultimate goal is simple: “The whole point is to sell more, right? It’s a very complex business but it ends with just one thing, a customer that is happy to buy our cars.”
