Stellantis Canada Marks 100 Years of Building Cars and Community

From Windsor Roots to Global Impact

Today, Stellantis Canada is celebrating a major milestone — 100 years since its founding in Windsor, Ontario, back on June 17, 1925. Just 11 days after the Chrysler Corporation was born in Detroit, its Canadian counterpart was incorporated, laying the foundation for what would become a century of innovation, manufacturing, and community-building north of the border.

Over the past century, Stellantis Canada has produced over 25 million vehicles, created thousands of jobs, and helped shape Canada’s automotive industry. The celebration includes the launch of a new, Canadian-assembled 2026 Chrysler Pacifica 100th Anniversary Edition, paying tribute to Chrysler’s century-long journey of engineering progress and affordable design.

“As we celebrate a century of operations here in Canada, we are incredibly proud of our legacy,” said Jeff Hines, President and CEO of Stellantis Canada. “We have evolved from our humble beginnings in 1925 with just 181 employees and 4,500 vehicles built, to nearly 9,000 current employees and 440 dealers coast to coast. This milestone is a testament to the hard work and passion of our employees, the loyalty of our customers, and the strength of our dealers. Thank you to everyone who has been a part of this journey. Here’s to the next 100 years!”

To mark the occasion, Stellantis Canada is hosting a Family Day celebration on Sunday, June 22, at the Windsor Assembly Plant. This special event is open to employees, retirees, and their families. Meanwhile, the public is invited to a charity car show organized by Cars & Coffee Windsor along Chrysler Centre Road starting at 9:00 a.m., with a $10 donation per vehicle entry benefitting the Canadian Transportation Museum and Heritage Village.

New commemorative signage will be going up around the plant and roads, thanking customers, employees, and dealers with the message: “You didn’t just ride along. You drove us.”

Today, Stellantis operates seven automotive brands in Canada — Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep®, Ram, Fiat, Alfa Romeo, and Mopar — through a nationwide network of approximately 440 dealers. Production still runs strong in Windsor, where vehicles like the Chrysler Pacifica, Pacifica Hybrid, and Grand Caravan (Voyager in the U.S.) are built. The Dodge Charger also continues to roll off the lines there.

The company also operates major facilities in Brampton (currently being retooled for next-gen Jeep® Compass), a casting plant in Etobicoke, and two parts distribution centers in Alberta and Ontario. In Windsor, the Automotive Research and Development Centre (ARDC), a partnership with the University of Windsor, continues to push the boundaries of automotive innovation.

That includes the upcoming Stellantis North America Battery Technology Centre, which will focus on testing and developing next-generation EV batteries for hybrids, PHEVs, and all-electric vehicles.

And the future is only getting brighter. Stellantis teamed up with LG Energy Solution in 2022 to create NextStar Energy, building Canada’s first large-scale lithium-ion battery plant, also located in Windsor. Once online, the plant will help support Stellantis’ growing electric vehicle production throughout North America.

From its first Windsor-built car in the 1920s to today’s hybrid minivans and high-tech battery plants, Stellantis Canada’s 100-year story is one of hard work, innovation, and community pride. Here’s to the next chapter.
