Sox And Martin Announces Sponsorships For Mopar Bracket Racers At Thanksgiving Footbrake Challenge

$400 Bonus To The Mopar Driver Who Goes The Furthest In Eliminations On Both Race Days...

Mopar enthusiasts and grassroots drag racers are gearing up for one of the year’s most exciting events: the annual Thanksgiving Footbrake Challenge. Held over two days from November 29-30, 2024, at the famed Piedmont Dragway in Julian, North Carolina, this prestigious race attracts some of the best bracket racers in the country. This year’s edition promises even more thrills, as Sox & Martin will offer a special bonus of up to $400 for the Mopar racer who goes the furthest in eliminations on each event day.

A Tradition in Grassroots Racing –

The Thanksgiving Footbrake Challenge began in 2003 and has become a key event in the grassroots drag racing community. The race is an eighth-mile competition with strict rules: a five-tenths full tree start, footbrake only, no electronics, and a single-class, dial-in format. This straightforward, pure racing setup attracts serious racers looking for a true test of skill and reflexes.

The stakes are high, with a $20,000 payout for the winner each day and $5,000 for the runner-up. The event has grown into one of the biggest bracket races in the U.S., and 2024 promises to uphold its reputation.

Sox & Martin’s Bonus for Mopar Bracket Racers –

To further boost Mopar participation, legendary drag racing team Sox & Martin is supporting grassroots racers with a $400 bonus to the Mopar driver who goes the furthest in eliminations on both race days. The bonus acknowledges the strong Mopar presence in the bracket racing community and Sox & Martin’s legacy in drag racing history.

Mike McCandless, Founder, and CEO of The McCandless Collection, expressed his enthusiasm for supporting grassroots racing:

“Grassroots Bracket Racing is the heart and soul of this great sport, and we want to show our support for these hardworking competitors. My nephews are hardcore bracket racers and have done a fantastic job in continuing the family tradition of drag racing. We want to grow the sport and encourage more Mopar racers to come out and compete at this awesome event.”

New Leadership for a New Era –

While the Thanksgiving Footbrake Challenge has a long-standing history, 2024 marks a new chapter as Jared Pennington and Steve Stites of Coalburg Racing Promotions take over the event’s management. Known for hosting some of the biggest money bracket races in the country, Pennington and Stites are committed to maintaining the event’s high standards while adding their expertise to ensure its continued success.

Pennington, a seasoned racer himself, understands the expectations of the racing community:

“We’re looking forward to upholding this longstanding Thanksgiving race as it’s become a tradition for many racers. Steve and I are excited to be taking over this great event and taking it to the next level. Our number one goal is not to mess it up while earning the racer’s trust.”

An Event for Racers and Fans Alike –
